Hey guys, my plants are STARVING for nutes and i just dont have the money for hte good stuff. I do happen to have a bottle of Schultz 8-14-9 African Violet Plus.

Im wondering if this is safe to use for a while. It doesnt seem liek the NPK is too hott, but then again i dont know much about nutes. This could really help me too!

ALSO, i have some powdered Schultz orchid food but I lost the box for it. I know it is indeed "Orchid Food" but dont know the name or NPK. Anyone know anything about this? Its pink..lol

Any help is appreciated. It says 7 drops per quart of water. 4quarts= 1 gallon. So how many drops should i use to be safe?

Thanks everyone

That would benefit you if your plant is in flowering. I used something close to that once and got ok results.
Use 10 drops in a gallon jug of water. Shake well and test the ph. I assume your growing in soil?
Schultz Orchid is also a bloom type nute but much stronger. 19-31-17 is the NPK

BONEMAN thanks for the help buddy. Im growing in FFOF and havent used nutes once. The plants are flowering and the light comes on in 4 hours.

Can i use both the nutes together? If so, how much of both do i add to the water? Thanks dude i appreciate it!

It has the NPK you need to go through veg and flower. Your concern would be burning the plants.
Gradually build up the amount used. If the directions call for 10 drops, start with 5 for the first two
feedings and go from there. Once youve determined if your plants can handle more, rock and roll.
Just dont burn your plants, its painful for you and for them:) Good luck, and post some picks if you can.
By the way, I once used some orchid nutes for my plants and they loved it, I ended up burning them though
with some worm casting and bat and seabird quano, ironic isnt it.

haha for sure. Thank you very much. Ive had a clone burn from nutes and its really sad. Actually just pulled her a few days ago :(

Any idea if i can mix both these nutes and how much i should be adding if im mixing them?

the Orchid food calls for 1/4 teaspoon per gallon, with a NPK of 19-31-17 do i want to mix it with the african violet nutes? Whats a safe amount?

Just stick with the first one. Not as hot as the orchid. No need to mix the two together.
The 10 drops per gal was about 1/3 of the recommended dosage you said was on the instructions. That should work fine. Just dont feed with it as much as you are thinking. Do something like feed, water, water, feed and see how they react. You can also up the drops per gal each feeding by approx 5 drops....NO MORE than that though and only if the plants are accepting the nutes well. Scale back if you start to see signs of nute burn.

I hope they are looking better. I came accross a thread regarding violet food.
Apparently its made for acid loving plants,
not ours, you may consider using the orchid
nutes once every two waterings building up to every other watering.
I want to post pics but cant figure out how to resize them, can some one instruct me on how to do it. Thanks.

i think if you click "go advanced" for reply you can then go to "manage attachments" and it should resize them for you

7 times 4 equals 28...duh.... but i wouldnt use that much to start out with.. maybe a quarter strength of it so that would be 7 drops per gallon..

I know this thread is more dead than hugh heffners erection, but ive been using african violet plus for around 5 weeks now, since my plants have been in flowering. I would reccommend it, works well and its not toooooo harsh. I started with 3 drops per quart, then moved up to around 5 (after 2-3 waterings ), and then up to the full 7. The plants have been taking it well.
