Here is my own version of a RIU greenhouse. This is one of those 10'x20' carport awnings from Costco (thanks FDD) covered with 6 mil plastic ala Garden of Weeden. I covered in the ends with Tan shade cloth (Home Depot) for maximum bug control & plenty of ventilation.

There are 12 flowering females inside.

oh yeah & my little greenhouse guard!

More pic's to follow, you'll see why I call it the in-out grow!

All I had to do was move my camper a few feet foreward & the Greenhouse fit right in.

Here is a view from the street & you can't see any of it!

The plants were started inside & vegged as long as possible before moving outside to flower in the Northern Cali sun. There are 3 different generations in the greenhouse now!

The basement has 3ea 1000w lights w/Agrosun Gold combo bulbs.

These 12 are the next class, awating graduation to the greenhouse.

I'll post some close-ups as soon as I get them up-loaded.

The carport, er greenhouse was $189 at Costco. There's about $30 worth of plastic & 2 rolls of shade cloth. Less than $300 total!

I will take clones from the girls in the basement this weekend & start another generation!

I forgot to mention that I have 5ea med cards posted, got to love Cali!

Those are 15gal pots filled with 50/50 mix of FF Ocean Forest & Happy Frog. Plain dirt!

I have recently fallen off the organic wagon. I used MG on these. Now before you go and chastise me take a close look at how deep the frost is developing on these flowers. And did somebody say "BIG BUD" contest? Look at that big Kush bud eating a water bottle!:o

This set-up will allow for each plant to veg for up to 4 months under 18hrs of 3000wt of light per day. I'm also running CO2!

I'll put those 12 in the basement in 15gal containers this week.

I'll veg them until they are 4-5ft tall & bushy as can be.

Did I forget board etiquette in not requesting feedback?

Please feel free to post comments or questions. This greenhouse turned-out better than I expected.

There has got to be a few questions out there.

Come-on I won't bite!

Thanks, it turned-out better than I expected.
Oh & I forgot $20 of zip-ties to attach everything to the frame.

6 of these girls are about 5 weeks of flowering & have another 3 or 4 to go.

The other 6 were just moved out about 3 weeks ago and are just starting to show flowers.

I'll move a new plant out to the greenhouse as soon as we harvest one.

I'll keep 12plants flowering in the greenhouse 365 days a year!

Those 12 girls you see in the basement will be Frosty 6' Christmas trees out in the greenhouse, come December. With 12 more waiting to go out in Jan-Feb. and so on.

Can you flower outdoors in No Cal in the winter months? I thought about doing something similar - I'm in So. Cal - never tried flowering outdoors in the winter. It doesn't freeze down here (much), but the temps can be a bit mild for flowering in the winter.

why not?

They are triggered off of day length. As long as it's above freezing and the days are short, if you put any mj plant outdoors it will flower.

They will immediately go into flower.

With this greenhouse and where I live it will never be below freezing inside that greenhouse.

I just have the ability to grow big plants first! I expect them to flower as soon as I put them out.

Thanks fdd, I owe it to you and others here on RIU. This place is great! Full of inspiration.

I will endeavor to post regular updates, as different generations pass thru the greenhouse this winter.

Should make for some interesting conversation to get us thru the long, cold nights of winter.

The 12 plants in the Greenhouse now, were put out at 3 different times & are 2 different strains. But I'll call them Gen1. They won't all ripen at the same time, staggered harvest.

Stay tuned, Gen2 (girls in the basement) are about to give birth to Gen3! Clones!

Got to go get dirt!

I'd love to know if there are any other Cali growers that flower outdoors in the winter without a greenhouse. I tried once with not much success (small buds), although I wasn't as experienced then as I am now. I'm in So. Cal.

i've done it a few times. the buds don't come out as nice. they leaves get thick and tough. crystal production is minimal. but it will work and it makes superb hash. :hump:
i think it's mostly a heat issue. a kerosene heater could really help.

So, what would you say would produce more/better bud - outdoor So. Cal winter weather or indoor CFL grow room, assuming a decent grow setup indoors? I'm thinking indoors - don't have do worry about bad weather. And by the way, an outdoor heater would not be possible for me - have to stealth grow (to keep the invaders off the crop). Indoor grows for me are small yields (with CFLs and limited space), but they turn over fast and are relatively worry free. I know I'm answering my own question; just want to know what other think.
