When to Cover The Plants?

I bought me a cosco Carport and a big role of clear plastic and need to know a few things.

1, If I cover just the roof in plastic will it effect my yield? Or should I leave them uncovered until the rain comes? Or does it even matter

2, If you cover your plants when do you put the cover on?

3, I could wrap the whole 10x20 port in clear plastic. Should I do this or just the roof?

4, And what would you do. Leave the plants as they are no with no protection?Just put the cover on when the rain comes?Or make a greenhouse with all side in plastic now? Or later on?

5, I have the reguler run of the mill clear plastic. Is there a type of plastic I should be looking for. 9I have no clue what my plastic is. It is semi clear and thick though.

These are the plants I am posting about. I never used a cover so this is all new to me. I teid the tall one over today so the port would fit. Also we have a wet fall here. Please help...

The tall one is 9.5 in that pic. I tied her over so now she is a little over 8 feet. If the stretch is done then carport will fit very nice. I also tied them over for they were to tall. They could be seen from a few backyards down the street.

I pretty much was thinking to wait for the rain myself. But then again if I can get the same amount of product along with keeping bugs out and what not.

I just have no clue about the pro and cons and when and how to act, if any.

wow and very nice garden.........Not sure what to do myself either, though not nearly as much to cover...... I would think cover just over the top and maybe down a bit as long as you can keep good air movement........though it can get rainy/nasty here in the fall too and I 've lost a good majority to mold in the past. Once they are wet I am not sure you 'd want to cover them......
Some of the guerilla growers ought to have the right answer for you.....

I have not seen catapillers or worms yet. But I started spraying a test plant with BT today. Trying to stay ahead of them.

With BT and a rain cover should work well.

Yeah im gonna get some moth traps and something to handle catepillars too, just like you I havent seen any yet either but im not gonna even give them the chance! lol I have seen tiny white budworms though eating hairs already...I handpick them, fucking pests.

ohh your in Oregon...your gonna be getting a lot more rain than me....Im gonna be taking my cover on and off ...but if you have a clear top on yours then id say just leave it once it starts raining, and plus you have more and way bigger plants than me but yeah the clear top wont restrict light or anything...I would hate to see those monsters go to mold...you could even rig it so, when the suns out, you just take off the plastic top

I dont...sorry lol I just have this plastic my dad gave me...hes owns a painting business so he has all sorts of shit that can come in handy...the stuff i'll be using is just this semi thick clear plastic...wish I could help more...

Good shit at Farmtek, get the Sunmasters pull and cut Greenhouse film. It's 6mil and uv rated for 4 years. I used the stuff from home depot and the plastic craked apart within 2 months. I literally came out and found my greenhouse standing there with ribs after a windy night. So now I use this stuff and no complaints. Its strong stuff and not too expensive. You basically order the size you want. Good luck!!!

6MIL is what you want, i cover an on cover mine all the time. the only thing i noticed is covered they don't get that much wind to make them strong and the ones covered started to flower a week ago and the ones not covered has not yet.
