Here man check this out.. Here's what happens when u presoak in a cup of water until they drop to the bottom.
Take um out put them in a papertowel. These particular ones where just placed up on a shelf prone to light. The papertowel kinda even dried out the next day as well.
These where left in the papertowel for 3 days. Kept just moist with tap water.
Yup i left them in too long cause i wasnt sure what i was going to do with um.
But i decided to keep 2.
Here's some germinated beanling..
These actually started growing out of the side of the papertowel as well.
Dont wait this long. They could have been transplanted and lost some valuable grow time.
This is only a refference for what i was trying to explain.

Here they are between day 2 and 3.

Again was real lazy and let um stretch a bit. Watered them with about a teaspoon of tap water a day.
These are the grow spounges or plugs or whatever they are called there are all different kinds available i guess.
But the point is i squeeze them out in tap water. Shake them out a bit. Crack um open. And set my taps into the plug so the head is either flush or just floating above the top of the plug.
U can watch them grow daily this way. Something i need because im completely obsessed.
Check it out.

Hopefully u can see the pixels.
Peace.

I'm not seeing anything bro? appreciate the effort though...I'm gonna look into those grow plugs, anything that makes life easier sounds good to me.

I can see um now! most helpful thx...just got back from the seed bank, gonna try the rockwool one more time. This time I'll presoak in the shotglass like you suggested. Do you know a site that has some info on those sponges your talking about?

Just search out Peat sponges. Starter or Grow plugs in the search bar at Riu.Im sure someone has done a thread detailing them. If not I use Botanicaire starter plugs. Search them out in ur browser.

YES. I used to use rapid rooters. Cant remember who makes them but its all the same. All kinds of different manufacturers make um and just give um there own name i guess.

On another note, I transplanted the 2 beanlings into a bucket. Was thinking about starting a new grow thread on it. Like a GROWTORIAL or just doing it here in this thread seeing how i already pretty much explained the whole entire SET-UP process.

lol...ya you might as well! sorry if I've been a pest...I hate to fail...just making sure I know exactly what I'm being told. In a previous post on this thread skunkworx mention he was building a recirculating system...I'm gonna assume in a RDWC system, the water is pumped from the res, to the buckets, and back to the res? What are the advantages to this? Seems like alotta of unnecessary plumbing to me

The biggest advantage of this would be only having one main res to maintain.
U could keep it in a different room even and control temps as well.
U could also give each one of ur plants its own individual bucket as well.

Yes it is alot of work. But i think if i was doing anything more than a stealth grow. Id figure out a way to make a good RDWC system. But with tubs of course.

I would like to see your growtorial and IMO it would be better in a new thread, leave this one for questions and discussion.

Ok i see I-S. Im going to try to put something together on that. Was thinking about this already. Like trying to keep a clean grow journal. Something without all the craziness like chix flashing bewbs and peeing on roads just a real simple thing chronicling the simplicity of how easy it actually is to grow with a bucket of water and an air pump.
In the meantime bro where is ur journal?

I'm growing some autoflower dwarf seeds because I had them left over. But when I figure out what I am going to do about some things like a different res and different nutes, and when my OG Kush seeds come, then I'm going to start a journal. Honestly, I'm a little intimidated about posting a grow journal. So many heavily experienced experts around here. If I post it and fuck up, which I'm known to do, then there it is with pictures and everyone will like, throw rotten fruit at me! :-(

Everyone's gotta start somewhere! No guts, no glory.

This question is for anyone watching...My buddy gave me a clone about 3 days ago, the plant he cut it from is just starting to bud. I have the clone in rockwool under my 1000w M/H, now it hasn't started to root yet but there is now hairs showing at the cola and two new bud sites on the lower nodes. Will it revert back to vegging on its own or is some action on my part required?

You need to switch the light cycle back to 18/6 (18 on 6 off) for around 2 weeks to get your plant to re veg.

nice!...cool pic, The lights have been on 18/6...guess I shoulda mentioned that. I also dipped the cutting in powder rooting hormone before putting it in the wool. Its only been 3 days so I guess I'm just being impatient.

]redi jedi... The system im putting together is in fact RDWC... this allows me to use one chiller and maintain as many buckets as I decide to add to the system. Currently im only going to run 4 5 gallon buckets under a SCROG net. This is really only do to a space issue, as i would love to run several banks of buckets. For now im using a hydrohut silver for my cab. Its only 2*4*7ft however should give me more than what im looking for if done correctly! The res and controller are outside of the Tent...Ive modified the tent in a way that allows the return and feed lines to come in and out at ground level. The return lines are 3/4" ID and the feed line is 1/2"ID...each bucket recieves the recirculated nutes through two1/4" ID lines that come off the main feed line that is pressurized by a 500gph magdrive pump "probably overkill and may have to use smaller pump?" I havent chose which air stones or air diffusers to use yet but im looking at some micro pore difusers sold by sunlight supply...they are rather pricey but look worth it to me. Currently I have one activeaqua air pump that is rated at 45 liters of air per min....I may need to get one more air pump if i use those particular diffusers as they require alot of air "atleast this is what im told" Each bucket has a 8" net pot lid. Because of the size of my cab i went with a 400 watt digital ballast and light, Ballast is Future Bright...I plan to veg with Eye Hortilux blue MH then switch to Eye Hortilux super hps till finish. My reflector is sealed and vented. I currently have a 4"170 cfm inline fan pulling air through a can filter at the highest point in my cab, then push that air through the light reflector and out of the cab into a crawl space. thats about where im at with this project...anything im missing ill be purchasing next month, so any advice is welcome. Ill try to post some pics if i can figure it out.

BTW, does anyone have any idea how high i should place my scrog net above the buckets? Also I was considering Co2 Enrichment, which obviously wasent in my original plans,as bad as i want to add this to my setup it may be more trouble than its worth, unless someone that really knows what they are doing has some good advice. How would i cool my cab while having it completely sealed? remember this is a hydrohut! any and all ideas welcome!

Skunk...nice bit of plumbing there! So basically the whole point of all this plumbing is to be able to tie in a chiller? I have a similiar setup. 6 buckets connected to a remote res. The res has a 30gal upper and a 18 gal lower. The lower res controls the water level in the buckets by using a float valve. As water is consumed in the buckets its replenished from the lower res. Once the water level in the lower res drops low enough, the float valve opens an refills the res. To adjust the desired level in the buckets you just simply bend the float arm. Its the same idea as yours only there is no return(drain) lines and I'm assuming your only using one res?

Other than the cost to build this kind of system, I can only see two issues..The feed rate will have to match the drain rate, and since your gonna pressurize the feed, the chance of leaks are greater. You blow just one of those feed lines off a fitting...well you'll have quite a puddle. hopefully you can shut the pump off before it pumps every last gallon on the floor...not cool at all! I wouldn't be using any cheap fittings, tubing or valves on this set up. If it didn't have a pressure rating I wouldn't use it.

Your flow rates can be controlled by valves too, but not by using an inline valve. Or I should say any valve that goes open to close in a 90deg rotation of the handle.
These kinds of valves are intended to be fully opened or closed. Use a gate valve, you can accurately adjust flow and wont leak once left in a semi-open position.

Sorry...I'm pretty blazed at the moment..its takin me like 20 minutes to type this...thought train just derailed....Ya use valves...lotsa valves...if the pump flows too much you can dial it down...if you have to dial it all the way down, get a smaller pump...I'm pretty sure I'm stating the obvious by now, so im out-

ya..my controller and res work the same way with the float valve and all...the buckets are ran in two banks two buckets are in line, each set uses its own return line. I made sure that i can return more liquid than could possibly be put into the buckets at any given point. Yeah my only worry is that the pressure from the magdrive 5 will blow one of the feed lines out of the main poly feed line. all of the feed lines are the expensive soft stuff...i really diddent want to spend as much as i did on it but it is alot better than the stiff cheap stuff! Plus easier to work with which is a plus! The valves i got allow me to reduce pressure, the question really is why should i use a pump that is probably 3 times what i need? I should probably downgrade when i get my other pump for the chiller. Its not like electricity is free...no sense in wasting it for no real reason.
Originally i had planned on running a tub at the end of the buckets with 4 6" net pots in it but after some thought i decided to try 4 buckets under a scrog net...I think my yield will be a little better this way...wall to wall green. I could have fit 6 buckets which was also a thought at one point but when i added the overflow drain to each bucket in case the main return gets clogged it took up more space, and that plan went out the window! Im probably better off knowing that i wont overflow onto the carpet!...Then i guess only running 4 buckets will help with not over crowding! I tend to over do things so the way things forced my hand is probably a good thing for now! ....How ever....its all made so things can easily be added! buckets, tubs, whatever! Oh I thought i would mention that beside from just bieng able to use one chiller for the whole setup, i can make one single adjustment from the controller and every bucket is taken care of...this is also where constant readings of PH,PPM, AND temp are taken. The downside to this is that if there were to be a case of root rot in one bucket they all could be affected. I am able to take any bucket out of the loop if something like that is noticed but still its a chance taken with RDWC. This is likely not to be an issue as i will be using a chiller....high water temps seem to be the main cause of root rot in dwc.
