Yep, I'm using STG in my 3 in. netpots, I'm also using it for my clones in my Aero Gardner.
It's a breeze to use... it's ph neutral, you can use it right out the pack. no need for washing dirty hydroton balls.

Have you completed a full cycle with it? How do the plants like it compared to hydroton? Maybe a stupid question but what type of system do you flower in (Ebb and flow, DWC, aeroponics)?

I haven't completed a full cycle yet.
i'm about a week into flowering so i'll post pictures and let you know how it works out. I can tell you the roots get through the STG really fast. My friend that introduced me to hydroponic growing uses hydroton. we've been doing week to week comparison and the stg is winning the root race so far.

Correspondence with SureToGrow regarding feeding schedule. My questions to them:
I have an Ebb & gro hydro system. I was interested your product and decided to try it out. I currently have some plants in that just started their bloom phase. The plants were grown in 4x4x4 rockwool cubes for 4 weeks of vegetative growth and then inserted into the Ebb & Gro buckets. I have half in STG Storm Typhoon media and the other half in Hydroton. In doing more reading about your product it appears that STG may require more frequent watering than hydroton. Is that true? Do you have a recommended feeding schedule for the STB Storm Typhoon product? Currently I am watering for 15 mins twice a day during lights on. Also, do you have the percentages of substrate porosity and air space for STG?
Their response:
Twice a day when the lights are on should be sufficient you may cut back to one depending where you are at in your bloom cycle now. If you are more than half way through bloom once should be enough. The air to water ratio of STG is 18/82 when saturated. I hope this helps.

If this is the same stuff I'm thinking of they just did a write up on it in HT or skunk mag. Suposed to be the hot new thing.
One question. If this stuff is ph neutral (like good soil) can you use water thats ph'd for soil (like 6.5) or do you still ph it down like regular hydro water (5.8 or whatever its suposed to be)?

STG is ph neutral so you can use it without rinsing or soaking in a pH adjusted solution. I personally don't think I will continue to use it because you can't water it as often as hydroton. More often watering in hydro is desirable IMHO because you are replacing/mixing the solution that is nearest the roots with newly mixed batches of solution. Whereas with STG you have to wait for the solution that the STG is retaining to be used up almost completely before watering again. If the plant is using unbalanced amounts of N, P, or K the balance won't be restored until the next watering.

i use them with now problem
i use the 1x1 squares for clones and the larger net pot inserts for my aeroponic sys.
