42 watt cfl growing

I got a question. I am about to veg using 42 wat cfl's but only in my veg stage at 24/0 then swith up to the 600 hps on a mover for flowering. I have been reading this section alot and i read a post where a guy said he switched to 55 w because they were cooler and his plants would even sometimes touch the light and they never burned. Are these lights really cooler?

Also. in regards to the placement of my lights. ive read where people say they pull down the lights so they are on the sides of the plant and on the top for maximum light coverage. Since i am only vegging with cfl's, is that going to hurt me as far as bud size seeing that i am going to swith up to the 600w hps? I want to veg 5 plants at a time using 12 42 watt 6700k cfl's (or 55 if cooler). I will have some on y adaptors and some will be stand alone. Im going to slap some mylar up for refleaction.

Id say stick with the 42 watters, they stay pretty cool as well. I can grab mine with my hand when they are on. You should use them in conjunction with your hps when you go to flower, it can only help to increase the size and density of your buds! And thats always a good thing!

use the CFL's to veg, but for SURE use that Hps for flowering, thats all you will need to get some damn good bud for 5 plants as far as lighting goes. what is your growspace size? if you have the room, since the hps gives off a lot of heat, put in a little portable a/c in there and adjust it to the right temperature before putting them in there, unless you are talking "limited space" like most cfl growers, as long as you have about 6-8 feet to work with height wise you might be fine doing some nice lst, temps will be your biggest battle with the hps, not yeild
