so my mother who knows about my closet grow gave me the heads up that my house is about to be appraised in a few days, i am stressin out a bit about my closet, i have 3 plants that are 3 weeks old and im trying to figure out whether or not these folks are gunna be looking in closets to help make an appraisal, im sure they would check out our bedrooms and shit, but im a bit unsure whether they would try and open the closet door. i also got a 6 foot plant in our outside garden area, i know they will check out our landscape to obtain the houses appraisal value....tommorow i am going to be going to the garden store to purchase a couple of tall houseplants to put in front of it for the time being... im not extremely woried about the outdoor plant , i dunno wether i should go thru the trouble to take mylar off the closet walls, put the 3 plants in the attick for a bit, and turn my closet back into an actual bedroom closet.....has anybody else who has had their house appraised know wether they give a shit to look at closets:?:thanks peoples

Yeah man you'll need to move that most likely.

They will want to look at the ceilings in the closets to see if any mold or cracks in the foundations. You may get lucky, but worse case scenerio they get back to the office and call the cops on your mom.

Just toss it in your car for a few hours should be sunny enough for it.

if you are not a legal patient then you are in trouble and you might as well chop them. they will go through all closets and measure your entire yard to help them get a figure$:o

Well, it could be a good thing if the appraiser found them. If you use the same math as the cops do when they bust someone growing pot, those plants are going to add about $10,000 to the value of the house! Just tell the appraiser they're a permanent improvement to the property!

Just kidding. The appraiser shouldn't have to look in every nook and cranny of the house. Just lock yourself in your room when they come, and have your mom tell them you're in there napping/have the flu/SARS/H1N1, whatever.

If you're just getting it appraised for tax purposes, they definitely don't check for mold/cracking foundation or any of that shit. They don't care about how much the house would be worth to a potential buyer, just how much they can tax you. Now, if you're having it inspected prior to SELLING it, that's a different story. They will crawl through the house with a fine-toothed comb for that. A tax appraisal, though, meh. Like I said, mold and foundation problems don't affect the tax-assessed value of your home, only the "retail" sale price, so to speak.

How do I purport to know this? Well, let's say I live in a very old house with many cracks yet somehow the tax assessment keeps going up each year, while the actual resale value of the house keeps going down.

The attic isn't a good place to put them, for sure. They'll definitely go into the attic, as they'll want to see what type of insulation is up there and what condition the roof is in (if it's leaking, the attic is going to be the place where the water gathers).

My family is in the bussiness and we look at everything in the house closets basment ans so forth.
We have found so things before that we could report to the cops but did not bother but unless you know this peron (witch is illegal to know the appraiser) YOU NEED TO GET RID OF EVERYTHING!!!!
