Newbie with lots of questions

Hi! I'm new here and about to start my first grow (Seeds in the mail, grow set up almost finished) and was wondering many things.

*Sorry about the length, I just want to be very prepared after spending as much time and money as I have on something that doesn't exist yet.

1) Can I keep my plant under 18/6 to grow as large as it possibly can? Or after a certain amount of time is it ideal to switch to 12/12, even if the plant hasn't become significantly large?
1a) If the plant starts growing too large but isn't done growing could I switch to 12/12 to force it to stop?
1b) When the plant is done growing will it start producing half-assed buds on it's own to let me know that it's time for 12/12, or do I just assume it's ready at some point?

2) After I harvest, is the plant useless?
2a) Can it flower again?
2b) Can it still be pollinated, and produce seeds?
2c) How do you dispose of a plant? (I live in an apartment and can't just throw it down the garbage chute, it's a pot plant!)
2d) Can I clone it and have the clones grow and produce buds, even though the mother has already produced buds on the stem? What about being pollinated?

3) I've read that you can start clones at 12/12, but is that ideal? Wouldn't the clone produce more if it was under 18/6 until it grew up a bit?
3a) If I kept the clones under 12/12 from the start while they're still small, would they start flowering right away, and require less light to flower (because they're smaller)?
-Is the 12/12 because they're in a delicate state from just being chopped and planted, and can't handle the stress from the light?

4) I've been reading about topping, but all I've gathered from it, is that it's a good thing. What exactly does "topping" entail?

5) What are the ideal nute ratios for vegging and flowering?
5a) Why do people use numbers like 14/8/14 instead of 7/4/7? Is it a concentration thing?
5b) Are there any everyday items that are good to use? I've seen molasses but would I use that for the entire process? Would I have to adjust my nute ratio so the plant doesn't get too much of something?

6) Is it possible to collect pollen and store it to pollinate at a later date? If yes, how long would it last? (Looking for a reason to not be totally bummed out about getting a male)

7) Do the leaves possess any THC at all? If yes, only on females, or males too?

8 ) After finding a male plant, what do I do with it? Will I have to clean out the soil to ensure there's no pollen that could accidentally pollinate the next female to grow in that pot?

9) How long (on average) will the plant grow before it's possible to determine gender?
9a) How long of a period exists between being able to determine gender and pollination? (Don't want to find a male one day, not get to getting rid of it for a day and coming back to a seeding female)

10) How will I know when it's ready to harvest? If I harvest late will it have any effect on the pot?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but this seemed like a lot to ask all at once. If you have read this, thank you! Any help at all is appreciated. I'll be sure to take pictures and keep a journal of my grow with special thanks to all that help along the way!:leaf::-P

I have done a lot of reading, but trying to find answers to these question has been proving pretty difficult. I've read a bunch of beginner's guides that either haven't covered these, or I simply haven't been able to pull this specific info out of them. Jeez, sorry.

1) you can veg as long as you want.. but you need to consider the amount of light you are using and have available.. the larger the plant the more light you need..

1a) you can force flower your plant whenever you want.. once you see alternating nodes you will know its mature and ready to flower.. but you can also flower prior to seeing alternating nodes.. you will lose some potency and final yield, but it will still be fine in both areas...

1b) you can look for alternating nodes like i said.. or you can look for preflowers.. if your plant starts showing pistils and is on an 18/6 or better light cycle then its a sure sign you have a female ready to flower...

2) after you harvest the plant is useless unless you want to revegg it or are harvesting it twice.. (once with the top buds, the flower the bottom longer and harvest it..)

2b) if you reveg and harvest again.. or if you harves the top and then flower the bottom longer and harvest it

2c) if you reveg it yes.. i dont think if you harvest the top and then flower the bottom longer there would be enough time to pollinate and produce seeds...

2d) double garbage bag it and throw it in a dumpster that is not in your complex

2e) you can take clones during flowering.. the further into flowering you go the longer it takes to revert the plant to veg and start growing it again.. but that clone will produce buds and can be pollinated...

3) you can start clones at 12/12 as soon as they root.. yes, a larger plant will produce more bud per plant.. but you can fit more clones in a given space than larger plants.. so the numbers make up for the plant size.. you end up with a bunch of single cola plants verse a plant with multiple buds.. in this case the numbers make up the yield differences...

3b) the smaller the plant the less light it needs.. you still want to use a good amount of light.. but its need would be less than a large plant..

3c) 12/12 starts flowering.. if you want to veg the clone you need to keep it under an 18/6 or better light cycle.. you also would need to root the clone under 24/0 prior to putting it in 12/12... the 12/12 cycle is just to flower and has nothing to do with the delicacy.. the light you use, which ideally is florescent to root, has more to do with the delicacy of the plant...

4) topping involves cutting the top of the plant, usually just above the second or third node set on the main stem.. this ultimately gives you two top colas...

5) nute ratios are based on plant needs and strains.. some strains use more nutes.. some use less... the smaller the plant, the less you want to use.... with soil when you start feeding nutes start out with a quarter strength nute solution and build from there.. and when you switch to flowering you will want to start with a 1/4 strength solution as well and build from there... with hydro 200 to 400 ppm for seedlings... 500 to 900 for mild growth... 1000 to 1300 for aggressive growth... when you switch to flowering start the ppm cycle over..

5a) the npk values are ratios of that nute in relation to the rest of whats in the solution.. so a 10-10-10 has 10% nitrogen, 10% phosphorus, and 10% potassium, and the rest of the stuff is fillers or water if its a liquid concentrate.. dont think just because the values are low the nutes are weak tho.. they are typically very very concentrated.. and a little go a long way...

5b) besides molasses there is not much else from home that you want to feed your plant.. you can use your piss for nitrogen.. but water it down to a 10% solution.. if you get good nutes they will provide you with everything your plant needs and will want.. good nutes are worth the money.. if you do use molasses make sure its unsulfured.. you can use it throughout the entire grow.. 1 to 2 tsp per gallon during veg... 1 to 2 tbls per gallon during flower... you dont need to adjust you solution when using molasses...

6) you can save pollen.. remove the sacs and place the pollen in a plastic bag and keep in the ffreezer.. i would say it's only viable for a few months... to avoid males get fem'd seeds to begin with...

7) thc is only located in the heads of the trichromes.. so unless the leaves have them on them they wont have any thc.. you can have very little trichs on leaves that you dont pay attention to, so you can save all your leaves for honey oil... that will make use of whatevers on them... but the leaves themselves contain no thc...

8) if you find a male and dont intend to breed kill it as soon as you can identify it as a male.. if you kill it and remove it early enough it wont have time to pollinate your females..

9) it usually takes around 4 weeks of solid veg to see preflowers.. it can take longer than this.. if you start 12/12 you will typically be able to tell the gender within 2 weeks if you dont know it prior.. using clones from females and/or buying fem'd seeds will eliminate the risk of unwanted males...

9b) its hard to say how soon a male will release its pollen.. but i'd say within two weeks of producing pollen sacs the male will start to release it..

10) you'll know its time to harvest by 2 factors.. the color of the trichromes and the over all look of a bud... first the trichromes will go from clear to milky to amber.. after they begin to amber is the first sign you can think about harvesting.. the longer you let the buds amber, the more different the high will be.. you will go from a head high, to a body/head high, to couch lock... if you let your bud go to long you risk the potency actually degrading...
