Need advice about lots of stuff.

Hello everyone and at 3:30am no less. I have been doing a lot of research about marijuana cultivation, how to grow AND torture them. I have an 11x7 room with 2, 1000w MH/HPS air cooled hoods pulling attic air into the hoods and back into the attic. I have a 10,000 btu portable AC and 4 articulating fans.

I can hold any temp I want with little effort now but I am afraid I am changing the air too fast. I also use the hood covers for the light heat. I just bought the Aero-flo 36 and have it all set up but I am waiting on my "clones". I still have 6 "Mommas" and need to consolidate down to just 2 or three (there are 6 mothers with 3 varieties).

The moms are in a Growhut and they are in 15gal pots w/ hydroton. Growhut is 4.5'x2.5'. Inside I have the moms on dripper rings set for 15 minutes every hour during the highest temp times and adjusted to nothing for a few hours right before light. Inside this hut is the other 1000w light. I tried closing the doors the other day and the temps climbed to near 85. Since then, I switched out the Ac ducting in my attic and gave the small room the 6 inch pipe from my frigid bathroom to add to the 4 inch ac pipe already there. This has cooled the room dramatically but I still haven't seen weather or not the Grow hut will be cool with the doors shut.

Anyways sorry about being long winded but I'm confused about some things...

1. How am I supposed to have total darkness in that Growhut right next to my flowering area? I guess it gets sealed and I must configure how to get it to seal without letting light out.

2. I have clones going in a seed tray with a 12" dome. Seed heat pad, thermostat...plants are wilting and smell like they are cooking! Water and temps both are in line with what I have learned here. Temps are about 80-85 and ph is 6.0. I have them in my other room under some flourescents for 24 hours. Some clones are 5 days old with no roots....is this normal? I took some out that looked like they were doing decently and opened up the rapid rooters only to find a bare stem and the bottom cut was turning tan/rusty color. Any advice? I am buying the Botanicare cloner (12 site? like 80$) and would like to pull 6 clones from the moms and set them in each row of my Aeroflo and start a perpetual harvest once a week.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I grew in a closet with sliding doors a while back that all kinds of gaps where light was able to get in. To solve the problem I taped large black garbage bags over the gaps. It was a pain getting in there to check my plants because i had to take care removing tape to be able to open the door but it worked. If your gaps are small you could just use duct tape or electrical tape. Anything to keep the light out.

I'm cloning now and i'm using a seed starter tray with clear plastic raised cover, rapid rooter organic grow plugs, take root rooting powder, distilled water.

I don't believe its nessecary to have a heat pad. If you are able to maintain the temperature of the room in a range of 70 F -75 F your clones should be fine without it. But, in my setup im using a compact fluorescent light and aluminum reflector whichs gives off enough warmth to keep it around 80 F.

I believe room temp is ok for clones at least i've never had any problems. But if your clones smell like they are cooking turn down the heat a bit and if that don't help get that heat pad out of there.

I'm no expert but, i hope this will help you
Good luck!

Hey thanks a lot man. I read that somewhere about clones taking fine in room temps. I have a problem making things more complicated.

If your heat is to hight and your plugs are to wet you can be cooking them. I couldnt get any clones to take either and after talking to a few people on RIU I found out my rockwool cubes were to wet. Made the proper adjustments and what a diff it made. Why Spend $80 on a cloner, I just made a DIY cloner 6 site for $15. Farm and fleet had everything I needed and the best part was they had it all for 40% off.

Your right. What about the rapid rooter plugs...I used ph'd RO water for the tray pan and to soak the plugs in. Is that necessary to PH the rapid rooter plugs? Then I squeeze about 80% of the water so the outside just starts to look a little dry. And this method sucks so far!

Thanks,

Are you using a root hormone?
I ended up cooking that batch of clones....so so sad.

I bought the gay little daisy cloner and that thing rocks!!! 4 days and no roots but the leaves look terrific. That pump it comes with generates heat and so I change out a frozen 20oz bottle 10 times a day to keep the temp in the 72-77 degree zone....pain in the ass.

I used the stuff the daisy cloner came with.

That sucks you cooked those, I'm sure the cloner will work better for you. It took 7 days for my cloner to get me roots, by the 8th day I had to pull them out, the roots were 1/4" long. The leaves stayed green, they drooped at 1st but it turned out I had to much light on them go figure. Best of luck bro, keep us posted.

I didn't even see one leaf drop in that daisy cloner! It is the technique that I intend on copying...

Does Michaels sell neoprene sheets?

Not sure, I bought a neoprene kneeling pad at farm & fleet, measured a 1.5" circles and cut them out. Does'nt hurt to go and walk thru the store.
