Soil then Aero?

I was wondering if I start the germinated seeds in soil until they are a little sprouted and then put them in rockwool into my Aeroponic system? I am waiting on the pump so That is why I put them in soil. Should have the pump friday. Also what PH should I soak the rockwool cubes in?

u could start the seedling in a rockwool cube and still have it in soil...that way once it is germinated you dont have to worry about putting its fragile youngness back into the rockwool.

The thing is that I do not have a PH meter right now so would distilled water bought from the store work?

Not sure of Reefers reasoning there as it kind of defeats going aero. Soak the cubes in 5.8 ph water ot even 5.5 as the ph is little high on new cubes. Youll then squeeze most of the water out before putting the seed in the cubs want it slightly more then moist with seeds less moist with clones. The seeds will take 3 days to crack and start then at 5-7 days they will have leaves above cube and roots starting to poke out from the cube bottom by then your pump will have gotten there and have been hooked in your setup and just pop the rockwool cubes in the aero setup. Putting them in dirt will cause you nothing but issues as the rockwool will get muddy and clog your aero misters and if the roots grow into the dirt they will break when trying to get the plant out causing nothing but stress increasing hermies and male plants so DO NOT put in dirt if going aeroyou ll have plenty of time friday is only few days away and the seeds wont be ready by then.Good luck

If your doing aero you have to have a ph meter and ppm or ec meter or your wasting time these are the 2 minimum needed mters you have to have or you'll have dead plants quick so have them before you start.

QFT.

Aero is a lot less forgiving than soil. Get the meters!

Alright. Also I have already put the seeds in soil. Is it to late to put them in the cubes? They are already germinated with a tap root coming out.

haha I didnt mean to mis inform anyone so sorry about that. Filthy is defintely right. I was just trying to tell him that he need not worry about having them in rockwool before hand...ah hell...im too high ...smoke on and hope the grow goes well.

dude anything you start in soil, you keep in soil, bottom line. take clones from these that r in soil and put them in rockwool cubes soaked w/distilled water and let them root baby. soil clone takes 2 weeks to root, 3 to show new growth, but results are faster in rockwool cubes and can be put into aero rather soon. the stress of taking the soil out of your roots would kill the plant.. and you have to or otherwise your misters will clog, it's not a maybe, it just is that way.

i use soil for sprouting, then i transfer to my system, seems like you weed out the week seeds.

Alright well I took the chance and took the sprouted seeds out of the soil and put them in rockwool. They are still alive and doing fine. Getting the pump and some ph up and some ph down and some foxfarm nutes today. Then hopefully in a week or so I can get my 400 watt HPS unit. Right now each one is under a blacklight, a flourecent light, and they each also have a CFL. the color temp is 2700k is that for veg or flower?

So if I am starting from seeds, I should put them straight into rockwool cubes after germination...what should I put the cubes in? A tray with a dome on top? How many times to water a day? And then just put the cubes in the aero system with rocks around it?
