I'm OMW to homedePOT right now.. I need to get the best soil medium possible.. If I should mix a few or just get one bag someone give a lil help.. They don't have worm castings n shit, but they have the shultz potting soil, miracle grow moisture control, etc.. Should I mix a few? Make my own mix? And one of my most IMPORTANT questions, if u answer anything PLEASE ansWer this one: can I put germinated seeds (with less than an inch root poppin out) into those expandable peat pellets???? Does it work well? I'm kinda afraid that once the plant sprouts in the peat pellet, that it will go into shock from the different soil that I'll b placing it in.. Anybody please, if u have answers ESPECIALLY to the peat pellet question, please aanswer quiiccckkk I'm gonna b chckin this in a few min once I'm there

I CAN TELL YOU THIS DO NOT USE THE MIRACLE GRO MOISTURE CONTROL POTTING SOIL. I AM A NEW GROWER( A FEW FAILED ATTEMPTS) AND I USED THIS POTTING SOIL FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT GREW A FEW OTHER PLANTS IN IT. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SO I THREW IT ALL AWAY( WITH TWO OF MY PLANTS THAT I HAD PLANTED IN IT:cry:!!! AS FOR THE PEAT PELLETS, I WOULD ASSUME IT IS OKAY SINCE YOU DO THE SAME FOR A SEED THAT YOU GERMED IN A PAPER TOWEL. JUST MAKE SURE THAT THE PELLET IS FULLY EXPANDED AND IT IS SOFT ENUFF. THAT SHOULD WORK. I AM USING THE PEAT PELLETS FOR THE FIRST TIME NOW AND THE ONLY THING I AM CONCERNED WITH IS WHEN TO PUT THEM IN SOIL. SINCE THE PELLET IS A NEUTRAL MEDIUM AND HAS NO TRUE NUTES IT SHOULD BE FINE. JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE SURE OF THE SOIL pH. I SUGGEST A SOILESS MEDIUM BECAUSE IT WOULD BE MADE UP OF THE SAME INERT MATERIAL. OUR CHOICES AROUND HERE(TRI- STATE) ARE LIMITED SO THAT'S WHAT I DID (PERLITE VERMICULITE & SPHAGNUM PEAT MOSS). I TRUST THAT I HAVE ASSISTED IN SOME WAY :peace:

If you're buying from home depot, i suggest just buying a solid potting soil that has no nutes addded to it. Just be sure to buy some nutes within the next few weeks.

I use Scott's Potting Soil from Home Depot, you can look at my grows, thus far have had no problems with (the soil) anyway. I also use MG African Violet Mix for the germinated seeds, until they sprout - before I put them into the Scott's - so the peat pellets should be fine, no shock worry.
Good luck!:peace:
