i am 2wks away from harvest (already flushed once).... thought i saw some powdery mildew on a couple of my plants and i paniced.... so i sprayed a little neem oil over my buds. it wasnt mixed with soap, just half a tsp neem concentrate + water in a spray bottle.

after doing this i found out its not really wise because it can affect the taste. do you think i just screwed myself ?

very bad idea. that'll leave a residual taste, and who knows what long term health side effects. try to rinse it off if you can, and remember to not spray plants after 14 days in flower.

maybe do a watercure if any taste of the oil come through with the bud.

ive smoked bud that seemed to have something oily on it and it sizzled when burned, never occored to me untill now that it could be neem oil

well i hosed the ladies down with pure water... hopefully that gets rid of the taste of neem i sprayed 20 mins earlier

i also broke off bits of leaves on my buds just to see if it had the neem taste...nothing unusual

i got my fingers crossed

did you use warm water? remember, neem is an oil. it will wash away, but cold water does little. use warm water for rinsing for best results.

good luck!

try one no pest strip from 'hot shot' per every 3x3 area. it's expensive, but works. you'll have to shut your fans off for at least 12 hours a day for maximum effectiveness.

walmart and lowe's carry them, but they're not what you'd think. they're sold in a packet/baggie type package. they look like a big air freshener (white plastic with vents, yellow rubber strip on the inside). it's not a roll of tape or anything like that, and is right next to the spray pesticides. they cost about 6$ per strip, and last about two months (says 4 mo's, bs).

here's a link to the product so you can identify easily....

hey guys maybe i should add that i am growing White Widow and some people say it is a late finisher.... i am currently on week 9 of flowering and i already stopped giving nutes.... if these trichs are still mostly clear by week 10 i may go another week

so maybe i have more time on my side, and a better chance the neem taste will be gone by then? i dunno

i am growing in soil btw

better chance of it being less of an issue, yes. i would continue to fertilize if all trichs are still clear. remember, the last two weeks are the bulk weeks, and you definitely do not want to deprive the plants of fundamental building blocks during the peak weight gain period....

what happens if i use nothing but molasses and water the last 3 weeks?

thanks for that, i'm going to buy molasses next week, i'm gonna see if i find the strips...

as for using only molasses, i have no idea... i'm just gonna dilute it in some lukewarm water and add a lil bit of it to the soil every other sunday and see how it goes... laterz

sorry but plants DON'T absorb neem oil and that is well known fact, you can actually spay up till about 5 days before harvesting. Been using neem oil for years and it also acts as a leaf polish, but I assure you that a plant will not absorb it, thats why you have to use soap with it to get it to act as a emulsifier so it will stick to the plant and kill any pesky critters.

I'm battling mites right now with a few strains I plan on cutting down in 1~2 weeks. Trichs on these girls are mostly cloudy with a spot of amber. I'm using those sponge brushes and basically wiping down each leaf between 2 sponges. Works pretty good as I've been doing it for the past 2 weeks and I already see improvements on all the girls. It's a pain in the ass and I don't want to do this anymore after this grow but it insures neem won't get on the buds. Plus it also allows me to hunt for caterpillars (which I'm also battling too). I didn't do any preventive measures so that is a big lesson learned. Next grow I will implement neem with my feeding schedule during veg and early flowering. From my understanding neem will start degrading after a week or a couple of weeks and will be mostly gone in ~4 weeks. Good luck!!
