Apple might work, but I would imagine that an actual piece of an apple would be too moist to leave with your buds. A piece of a lemon or orange peel, on the other hand is moist but not wet, and citrus (found in both lemons and oranges) is very strong in terms of scent and taste, and will probably give your buds a boost that apples won't.

I've cured a few of my harvests by putting them in orange peels, honey dew...skin? the part you don't eat, and a coconut. honey dew made my bud moldy, orange peels works just fine, and coconut is amazing.

lemon/lime/orange peels work perfect..traps the smell in the jar and the smell asorbs in the buds...
you jus gotta open more frequently to avoid mold (jus inncase.)

if your gonna do it, i would buy dried or freezedried strawberrys, apricots, cranberries etc.. anything fresh will add unwanted moisture.. ive thought about trying it with citrus peels but was told that it will add more moisture than you'd think

I used the vanilla bean in some NL that I grew. Not much of a smell to begin with. It did add a vanilla smell to it but no taste. At least not discernable to my palate. Vanilla dosent add moisture like a piece of fruit will-just the smell. I have added an orange or lime peel to some bags that were too dry. Smelled good and fluffed them up nice, if you don't leave the peel in too long.

Now that you all have got me thinking, lemon zest would be a better alternative because there is not as much pulp and more essential oils.

either way chances are you'll get the smell only and no taste unless the weed has a natrual taste of fruit or something it self
