New technique? (Doesnt have a name, lol)

So I'm not the best artist, but here goes...
The concept:
You veg a plant until it is about 4ft tall, then you get a soil container that is a long rectangular prism...
You take the plant, put it sideways, buried into the soil. The branches each turn into new plants, and they are supplied by the initial root system so there is no rooting time wasted. Voila.

PS: The person that shared this method with me had seen it actually done before, so it isn't just a theoretical technique ;)

seems to be like more of a farce than truth to it. i would assume the leaves would rot before the stems would grow roots.

Really man? gtfo out the thread...First of all, I already explained that it doesnt grow a new root system, it uses the already available one..ackass j.
Second of all, this has been done before, so stfu.

It actually is a technique in horticulture. It's used mostly by bonsai artists, it allows you to create a tree grouping from one single tree.

There is no practical use for doing other than it is purely decorative. Cannabis is easy to bend and train, so I guess you could successfully do it, but I don't think it would enhance yields.

If you wanted it to grow a new root system on the nodes, you could encourage it. It just wouldn't be a good idea, there would be no benefit do it to cannabis.

not really sure if im not getting your concept, but isn't it just a less effective way of LST? I mean it seems like your doing the same thing, just with less leaves to get light and continue plant growth... I could be way off though.

yeah lst or training is more effective and you dont have to burry half the plant. leaf sets will come up on either side of the main stem. maybe 50% more effective than cutting off or burring half the nodes.. just an opinion.

Wouldn't the "new plants" be very close together? Unless the plant was stretched like crazy. Just a thought. Other than that, I can see your point.

i concur i dont have a goo feeling about burying my already healthy plants and there is no way a bunnch of branches would make new individual plants......unless you cut each one off and cloned it then they would each become theyre own plant bbut if still connected even underground it is the same plant

What he is trying to say is, instead of cloning a bunch of plants that have NO root system, you trim the main stem untill you have just the branches you want, bury it sideways in the ground so the "new" clones can be above ground and have a root system untill they can establish their own. Sounds like a good idea, but your wasting over half your tree by hacking it to death....if i had a 4ft tree.....well...i sure as hell would do that

as long as some of the new branch was covered with soil it will sprout new roots....but then you would still have to cut it off the main stem. A pretty sad way to go.

yeah i have done this wit plants outdoors that get too big.. just tie em down and then all branches will grow towards the light no need to bury half the plant though
