quick fix for water ph when growing in soil. lemon juice. It won't stay down forever so use it as soon as you mix in the juice. You can use an aquarium ph test kit to ph your water.

lol@people testing their soil and runoff. Only reason to test your soil would be if you were using some sketchy soil from outside or a weird source. Most bag soil should be ph balanced.

The only thing you should be testing is the water that you are giving your plants, take it from an experienced grower

Most bottled water and city water runs an average of 7 ph and should be fine to give to your plants. Throw some nutes in if you want to bring down the ph safely, but beware too much nutes will lower it pretty damn quick and then you have a problem with too low ph.:leaf:

If it's at 7.0 that's not exactly ideal you want to be between 6.5-6.9 for soil typically, but honestly nothing wrong with 7.0. I give mine straight tap water that's at 7.0 if I'm not giving any nutes and I've never had a ph problem at all, they stay beautiful and healthy.

You're just worrying too much like many new growers do. Messing with the ph especially without a ph probe and giving them water which you don't even know the ph is a bad idea and a newb mistake. Better to give them 7.0 water than guess with the lemon juice and maybe give them some that's down below 6.0 Just give them the darn water and let them do their thing and you'll be much happier and much less stressed let me assure you.

If you're noticing leaf discoloration I'd consider the following things rather than worry about your ph:

Do they have a deficiency? You said you were not giving them nutes so this is possible.

What temp is the bottled water when you give it to them? 65-70 degrees is optimal. Anything above 75 is not good. Anything above 80 will most definitely have a detrimental effect and probably start turning your leaves a sickly brown color and turning them crispy as you are killing your roots with the high temp water. Lower temperature water also holds more dissolved oxygen.

i got a Milwaukee digi PH pen on ebay $20 shipped, i was feeding 8.0 out the tap and had issues in MG MC, dropped ph to 6.3.-6.8 and there greener than ever before.

i played around with some stuff, i use lime juice, 1ml per liter, drops me to upper 6's, working so far ok for me

for one i have never in my life even tried to groww hydro

2 i never in my life have checked my soil run off

3 u can get a ph tester and test ur water then water ur plants when ur final ph is about 6.1-6.4 which is wat i do and my plants are healthier than a horse

4 maybe where u live the people at the stores are retarded because if its a ph tester then u can test the water before u water ur plants thats common sense
