Birds eating outdoor plants

So lets say that you have a fence set up around your plants, and the only possible animal that could be eating your plants are birds. If you set up bird netting over the top of the plants, will it affect the plant by not getting enough light? How do you keep birds from eating them!?

Are u positive birds are eating your plants? I never heard of that but put the net over and see how much light the plants are getting. Judge it upon if u were a plant would that be enough light for you? LOL peace

Why not just cover with 6mm clear plastic from home depot? Simple fix if you already have a fence? Birds can go right thru a fence though. Unless your fence is chicken wires or something.

If your bird netting is netting I do not see the netting blocking any sun at all. it is a net right?

They are proberbly eating the insects off your plant, everytime I opened the windows in my greenhouse i had 100's come in and wreck the plants eating spiders and otehr bugs off them. i had to put chicken wire over the windows to stop them as they shit and piss all over the plants, also broken a few branchs. now they cant get in my plants have loads of spiders back on them, which i dont really mind as all they want to do is eat all the other bugs on the plants :D

Lowes has some mesh netting that is perfect for this situation. lets plenty of daylight in and keeps varmits out.

I'm also having problems with a dove that keeps eating the lower buds off of one of my plants. I caught him the other day perched on the lower branches nibbling away on my buds....:cuss:
