I'm not saying you have to be religious to get married. But the history of marriage shows that it has been a religious practice. Now that the government has got involved(another way to take from their citizens) the definition of marriage has changed. They keep pushing churches out, putting in new regulations and policies. How am I the one who makes that decision? I'm not telling anyone they can't get married, I'm sharing my opinion. I don't give a damn if they got married, wouldn't affect me at all. Then how do you suggest an atheist would get married, legally?
Marriage has NOTHING to do with religion. At all. That is why atheists can get married, legally.
You go right ahead and get married in a church in some ''holy'' ceremony... without the proper legal documentation, your marriage won't be recognized anywhere, just like homosexual unions aren't recognized in states that have outlawed them.
So in short;
-any atheist can get the proper legal documentation to wed
-there is no requirement of a certain belief or any belief at all before you get married
-you can't get a legally recognized marriage without the proper legal documentation
-you do not need a priest, pastor, rabbi, minister, or any other con artist claiming to know things he does not know to obtain these documents
Now go smoke a bowl and give this some thought.
Do you really feel you have the right to tell another human being what he or she can or can't do with themselves? If so, what gives you that right, and what happens if others feel they have this right too?
Think it over.
oops, didn't mean to imply that. i was just saying.Well there are boundaries FDD, lol.

But look at where they get married, churches. Hypocrites?
lmfaoHomosexuals are gay.

I have gay friends, and nothing against gays.Im gay, a stoner, and proud of both.... 'nuff said...
It's a rare treat when CrackerJax actually posts something that's true. The history of marriage does NOT show that tyvm.....
How did marriage originate?
It was a practice initiated so that lands would stay intact and estates would and could be passed down and not lost over time. It was all about a dowry. Today, the dowry has become more symbolic but in the past it was the entire reason marriage was practiced. A legally binding way to pass one's estate to the heirs. It was "the tie that binds" .... not ppl, but land. It was all about the land...and money.
The church eventually just became the "witness" to the contract. Just like today....
stop teaching our children that a dangerous lifestyle is acceptable and normal.
.
Everything I type is basically true... you just can't cut through ur own spin in some areas to notice. It's a rare treat when CrackerJax actually posts something that's true.
Gay marriage is about accepting the lifestyle, and I explained why I will never accept it.While one may assume that STD's plague the gay community which makes sense since the exchange pool is so much smaller than the hetero's, while that may be true, it has no bearing on getting married.
No matter what ur sexual orientation, if you have an STD, you need to inform ur partner. Education is the best defense.
Nothing to do with entering into legal contracts, like a marriage.
Gay marriage is about accepting the lifestyle, and I explained why I will never accept it.
At least I'm free to make my own choices and expound upon them, just as gays do. Be happy not envious of what heteros have. You don't see me all over the board asking folks to accept my sexual preferences, because certain things are better left in the closet.
we all drive, but do we all drive at 110 MPH?Everyone's lifestyle is "dangerous". WE all drive automobiles, do we not? Even though they are "dangerous"? Do we consider it acceptable and normal to drive a vehicle? Yep, we sure do.
There is nothing about a gay person's lifestyle that is any more inherently dangerous than the lives we ALL live.
Unless you live in a bubble.
