Different strains end up lookin them same

Hey everybody

Been lurking awhile getting to learning about everything to bring my closet grow a bit better then jimmy rigged and what not haha.

Anyway I grew my first time and it was with a metal halide light with bag seeds and one chronic seed. I also used open seasame,beastie bloomz and cha ching. They looked all different growing but once they dried and cured they all looked the same. Pretty much smelled the same too.

Didnt really think much of it until now that i ordered auto flowering seeds. AK47XBlueberry,AK47XDiesel,GWS. The gws never did anything out of the 10 seeds i got of them. So now that the blueberry is done and dried it looks the exact same way as the other grow did.

This time i have a 400watt HPS and like i said it was autoflowering.

Is there something i am doing wrong or what?

O and also i know i shouldnt expect compact nugs but they all were fluffy too was hoping there was something i could do to make them more compact.

I can tell you I have grown different strains together, cured the strains separately and I could definitely tell the difference. I was in a nutrient challenge where we all grew the same strain but different nuts. The weed all was different. So the nutrient effects the taste. Did you use the same nutrients? maybe its that.

Yeah i used the same nutes. I kinda thought that but thought that would be weird if it was different strains.

I am gonna go straight water with this current session.

DoeEyed: I hang the buds after i trim them on a hanger in my closet. Then put them in jars to cure.

Sounds like an idea. I suppose with a good base they will go to term and hopefully acquire the look/taste of the genetics.

Ya know, Maybe see if you can find out what there native soil consists of and get close to that for a base.

Sounds like you might have over fertilized them, how did you determine when to harvest them ie; days flowered, color of pistils or trichomes? Also how did you cure them? Did you flush them with "water only" between feedings and before harvest?

cruzer101: I already have a new batch of autos going. My buddy that I am doing it with f'ed up and didnt read the seeds were got werent feminized. So we are gonna wait not til we get feminized and then get fox farm ocean forest.

Scion05: I only used 1/2 strength nutes and only gave it to them 3-4 times because i read they really shouldnt be given much since they are autoflowering.

I decided to harvest by the days and color of trichomes. Yeah I know that isnt the best way but havent got my hands on a 420 scope.

I cured them in a jar and yes i did flush them with water for 2 weeks before i pick them.


I have 2 plants outside that i used the same nutes on. They are also different strains so gonna see what happends when they are done and ready. If they look the same i dont know what i will do. :blsmoke:

Well one plant that was outside got taken by its owner/person i was growing for but not to sure (long story). The one that was mine i had to harvest early cause of this damn global cooling in michigan lol.

It ended up looking, smelling different. Used the same dirt and nutes as inside. Wondering if it has to do with the light source? I do have the HPS like i said but this current indoor autoflowering grow will be the first with the HPS thru its entire life.
