What the hell is this?

Hydro grow with plants 4 weeks into flowering. Flowering has been going well until I seen this yesterday. What is this deformity on this plant. It seems like the stem is splitting and white growth is filling in between the split.

Any ideas?

Looks pretty strange. Usually stems will split when buds get huge with no staking, but that doesn't look like the case here. Could you post more pics? In focus.

Regarding mold; Could mold get on the stem of a hydro grow? Wouldn't the lights prevent it? How do I stop/remove mold?

Yes especially if your plant is not getting ventalation to that area. You plant looks like it is growing fairly tight towards the center and if you dropped or splashed water there and then not enough air flow that would that mold to develop. You could open that area up by trimming a few of the fans in the center.

At this point getting rid of it, especially where it is, will be tricky. You could treat with a fungacide or you can cut that part of the plant off as long as it would not remove too much. If you do not do anything the plant will stop performing for you.
