what can I do about soft water?

I live in an area with saline water and I'm going to start my new dwc grow soon.

What can I do about the saline water without buying an RO filter?

Any help much appreciated.

buy distilled water... or get a ph tester ..dont use tap water if u MUST use it put it in a gallon jug let it sit out open for 2 days before using it still not gonna be good water b ut will be better than it was

Letting it sit for a day or two is better than nothing, gotcha.

how about a filtered water?

would that help remove any of the salts?

there's no cheap method of getting around your problem. I buy distilled from the local grocery store. $0.33/gal. I load up a couple of 5 gal. buckets w/ lids and head out once a week. If you're needing more than 10-20 gal at a time you might as well just buy the R/O.

22 gal wouldn't be too aweful. Four 5 gal. buckets won't wear you out to fast. I only go once a week because I alternate between cleaning my veg res and flowering res so I don't have to do them both at once. IMO water qualty is crucial.

I know saline water can slow the intake of nutes to the plant, would it be possible to add a little extra nutes to be sure the plant is getting what it needs, or would that be overkill?

i wouldnt add more nutes honestly ...w ell u could try addin a little more then if u see it start to get nute burn cut it back fast
