Yellowing and curling of Leaves - 15 Days Old

Hey everyone, I just have a quick question about the condition of two of my plants i have growing right now. A quick run down of my set up should make things easier....

3 cool white flourescent bulbs
1 warm light bulb

The plants have just been transplanted to larger ~3 gallon buckets.

The medium i had on hand was Scotts Potting Soil, with drainage rocks at the bottom.

Temps and humidity inside the box have been around 80 F and 45-50 %

I have used a moisture meter to maintain proper watering schedule.

I have NOT added any nutrients yet, and do not know the pH of the soil (in the mail...)

I have been watering the plants with tap water that has sat out for a few days.

So your leaves are curling and turning yellow eh? Well, I would bet it's an issue with your ph. Especially if your using tap water no matter how long you let it set out especially if you live in the city. Try using some boiled or purified water or baottled. Also you might want to lower the temp by a few degrees.

Thanks Man, that was one my my sneaking suspicions after reading some threads on here. I think I'm going to flush them right now with bottled water, try raise the pH a little now, then when the meter comes in, try equalize everything out.

Is it normal for only 2 of the 6 plants to experience the yellowing? The other 4 do not show signs of yellowing, but are not "cheerful" looking like they should. I am thinking the Nutes need to arrive sooner then later.

Were they fine before you transplanted? What size pot, dirt type, and nute level were used before? Sounds more like they're over watered with low nutrients.

No, before transplanting the two in question we begining to yellow.

Pot size went from dixie cup, to your standard indoor potting jug.

I started off with Scotts Potting Blend
(0.07 -0.01-0.03)

No nutes have been used yet (still in the damn mail)

ya thats deff the ph bro idk how to help out if ur using tap water just hope they hold out till u get that ph tester

Ah they look OK. When using good soil don't fret too much about PH. Their color and growth rate will pick up once you start using the nutes. The pot looks small enough to hold it for awhile without too big a worry of overwatering. Make sure it's almost rootbound before transplanting to ensure it can support a big pot.

Yeah, I think the Scott's Soil is hopefully a higher quality. What kind of nutes would you reccomend? I am hopefully getting some fox farm big grow on sunday for free from a friend.

As for the pots, right now the babies are in ~3 gallon pots, I thought those would be big enough. I am not looking to grow tall tall plants, the strain in Lemon Skunk (smells awsome already!)....supposedly its a short bushy strain. Is 3 gallons enough?

yea id check that pH right away. other than that, tap water contains hundreds of bad nutrients/additives. clorine/chloramine could be causing this too.

let the water you use sit in a large bucket for 3+days. i also use some fish tank water additives to remove chlorine, chloramine, ammonia. then add nutrients, then check pH, then add it. and check pH often cuz it can spike and if not treated quickly you will have a bunch of dead plants

i used soil but i found drainage to be a major problem. thats why i went hydro

the "pre-mixed" soils can be a problem with nutes as well. the more you water the more they release. fox-farm and botanicare both have good soil mediums that aren't pre-nuted.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Definitly going to work on the pH and figure out whats going on with that. Ill post up some pics a little later on when i get things figured out and the babies are a little more show worthy. Happy smoking fellas. Thanks again!
