Oh also, I say that because of taste. Until I see some empirical evidence stating how smoking out of aluminum is bad for you, I'm calling bullshit because I never see proof... just parroting. Aluminum doesn't melt or even give off vapor until it reaches ~2400 Degrees F. My Bic lighter is no where near that temperature.
If anyone has some proof post it up but I've never found anything. Also, don't say bullshit about aluminum and Alzheimer's... its speculation.
Well flame temperatures off of butane lighters are very close to the temperature you think aluminum melts at, in fact aluminum melts at a much lower temp. Here is a handy chart regarding burning temps of different gases:
Fuel Gas Oxygen (oC) Air (oC) Acetylene 3,100 2,400 Butane
1,970 Ethane
1,960 Hydrogen 2,660 2,045 MAPP1) 2,980 Methane 2,810 1,957 Natural Gas 2,770 Propane 2,820 1,980 Propane Butane Mix 1,970
When you combine this information with the actual melting point of aluminum 660.1 C you will realize that a butane lighter is in fact more than 3 times the temperature needed to melt aluminum.
Here is the info on
aluminum
As far as problems caused by aluminum, have you ever wondered why there is no more aluminum cookware? It is because studies have shown Alzheimer patients have an abnormally high concentration of aluminum in their brains.
I don't mean to preach, mostly because i have been known to smoke out of an empty beer can in the dessert in dire straits. Just avoid it whenever possible and you will be fine. No need to take more risks with your health than you need to!
