Was it a cop, or a rent-a-cop?
im sure they deal with bullshitI have LEO in the family. If you guys honestly knew what they go through each day, many of you would think a lot differently about cops.

EXACTLY, I didn't want to say it cuz I'm not trying to put down anyone's family or friends in law enforcement, but I didn't form my opinion of cops from TV or other people bitching, I formed my opinion based on a lifetime of BAD personal experiences. If they'd quit pepper spraying me when I try to hand em my ID i might just do that but as it is I have had one unarmed aquaintance shot to death by a police officer while he was doing absolutely nothing wrong. Friends and relatives beaten.
I've had so many negative experiences with the police I can't have any sympathy for their position at this point.
THeyneed to quit acting like they are Army Rangers and the average Joe on the street is an Afgani Taliban soldier.
"Protect and serve went out the door years ago.
Ditto. I can describe only one experience in my lifetime with law enforcement that could possibly be considered "positive", and really the only positive aspect was that they actually RESPONDED when I called for help. Aside from showing up, they did very little to rectify the situation.EXACTLY, I didn't want to say it cuz I'm not trying to put down anyone's family or friends in law enforcement, but I didn't form my opinion of cops from TV or other people bitching, I formed my opinion based on a lifetime of BAD personal experiences.
They're people like you and me when offduty..Ditto. There are no cops in my immediate circle of friends, and no cops even in my extended circle of friends. I find it hard to believe that I could connect with a cop on any kind of meaningful level.
They're people like you and me when offduty..

I find that hard to believe, especially since you and me are both posting on this marijuana growing forumThey're people like you and me when offduty..
ViRedd cops arent the only ones who have to deal with major shit each and every day, we all do in one way or the other. so what gives cops the right to ABUSE their power? They are here because we pay their salaries ,its like someone posted to protect and serve. not to harass and belittle. I wont make any excuses nor should u for cops that abuse their power. They are no different then the same street thugs that they arrest .
Thanks for the infoThey have no right to abuse their power. That's what Internal Affairs are for. Every police department has an Internal Affairs department and they take EVERY complaint against a police officer very seriously, no matter how frivolous that complaint is. My relative has had two complaints filed against him. Even though the complaints were pure bullshit, he was drug through he wringer over them ... and when everything finally came down on his side, it was then over.
Every complaint, and it's resolution, is kept in the officer's permanet file. Believe me, these complaints are taken seriously and can cause termination.
The lesson here is ... if you are mistreated, treated unfairly or abused by a police officer, file a complaint with his department's Internal Affairs department. That's why they're there.

That's another fallacy as well. There are NO quotas. There are times though, when the state government will give money to local police departments to pay for overtime and to direct enforcement in a specific area, say like DUI enforcement.Fuck ticket quotas
the fact is if there are quotas or not, the cops try and make money for the state (its not a deterrent, they extort money from citizens)That's another fallacy as well. There are NO quotas. Individual police officers who are motivated will "specialize" in certain areas. For example, my relative really likes to go after drunk drivers. He's become somewhat of an expert at spotting behavior that only DUIs exhibit.
He says that he won't sit down the street from bars to wait for patrons to come out and drive away like lazy police officers do because that takes all of the challenge out of the job for him.
The guy has some really funny stories about some of the drunk drivers he's busted.
He also consistently leads his department in DUI arrests. I wonder how many lives he's saved? I wonder if he's saved any of your family members?
I stopped right there cuz I'm confused. That's another fallacy as well. There are NO quotas.
Answer: To give you an incentive not to exceed the speed limit in the future.the fact is if there are quotas or not, the cops try and make money for the state (its not a deterrent, they extort money from citizens)
the cops for the most part are a money making operation, why should i get a 200 dollar speeding ticket when i already pay taxes and theres some asshole down the street slinging crack
Man, this is news to me ... thanks for posting the links.I stopped right there cuz I'm confused.

According to those, and a lot of other stuff you can find just by using google, there ARE ticket quotas.
The second link is a news report about COPS complaining about ticket quotas.
