What is the temperature of your aero rez ?

It needs to be below 70º for max Dissolved Oxygen
and to prevent diseases like root rot.

What is your light cycle right now ?
Those big plants in the back look very happy.

Right now it is a steady 64F and has been since I put them in the tent and I have them on 18/6.

TY...those plants were bare 2 weeks ago, I took around 50 clones from them. I was surprised they look as good as they do after 2 weeks.

They do come back pretty amazing after cuts for clones.

How do you keep your rez that cool ?
Do you use a chiller ?

It's pretty much dictated by climate. I am growing in my garage which is insulated and the temp stays within 10-12 degrees of the outside temp. Right now I am lucky because the temps outside are 68-70 during the day and they drop way down to 40-45 or so during the night. In effect when temps drop down at night and the lights are off, it drops the rez temp also which slowly raises during lights on. I monitored all of this running my spare tub while these clones were rooting. The swing is generally between a low of 58 to a high of 64. I know this is going to change when it starts getting REAL cold outside, so I have an aquarium heater that I will be using shortly. Also, I have a heater that I will be using for temps inside of the tent and I can adjust the exhaust fan speed to compensate when the light is on. It's defiantly going to be trial and error at first, but it should become predictable after a while depending on the forecast.

Do you think the rez temp swings are too drastic?

I had my rez down to the 40s last winter.

It is better to get the rez temp stable,
but the plants will continue to grow,
just a little slower if your rez is very cold.

Still, it's better to be to cool
than to be a little too hot.

earl...thx for the answer my man. I thought it would be a bigger issue than what it is with the temp swing, but I will trust the answer of a wise man who has been down that road before. Here are a couple of pics of the plants just 2 days after moving them in. See the growth? And next up for these systems...Green Crack. Here are the mothers about a month old from clone.

First pic is of the new growth, second is the POG mothers and the last is of the Green Crack mothers. I picked those (Green Crack moms) up on a recent trip to Visalia, CA. Had to overnight them to the east coast and had to nurse them back to health. Needless to say they, like all MJ plants, were tough and with some TLC came back to help me medicate myself in the future. TY for the nice gift, you know who you are!

Great pictures.
Those two plants look very happy,
when they flower
they will get huge.

I got a suggestion for you.
I used to use the hydroton and still do when I grow from seed,
but for my clones,
I stick the cut into a neoprene plug
and then I don't need to deal with the rocks.
The neo plugs should work great in your aero cloner
and then either stay in the cloner or go into another system


This is the 2" neo plug and goes right into the net pot.

Great idea earl... I was actually going to do this, but the 3" neoprene holes let my clones just flop around which is why I used hydroton this time. I'll have to double them up with the 2" pucks to stabilize, I think LoudBlunts does this too. Either way not having to deal with rocks is a huge +.

Lol, that is a pretty sick idea, Earl - I've got the neoprene sitting by its lonesome in the bubble cloner I just made an hour ago.

I'm thinking and hoping that'll be enough support for the clones, but I guess time will tell.

Update Sunday...

This setup is almost too easy!!! I knew I said I wouldn't check the ph/ppm during the week, but I did to see the swings from day to day. I have been adding 1-2 gallons of non ph'd water each day to maintain rez levels. The ph would go up .1 for each gallon added, for instance I started with a ph of 5.8 and the next day after adding a gallon of water it was 5.9. The ppm's would go down anywhere from 20-50ppm adding that same gallon of water. So with a starting ppm of 1360 last Sunday, it was down to 1270 today. All within acceptable range of the Lucas formula, so all is well. Also, I initially said I wouldn't adjust ph/ppm during the week, but after adding back plain water the ph went up to 6.5 Thursday. So I added 25ml of ph down and it went back to 5.8. Knowing all of this I will probably check everything before lights out at 12AM Thursday morning and adjust if necessary.

Today I adjusted the ph/ppm to 5.7 and 1360 respectively. Temp inside the tent are in the mid 70's with 51% humidity lights on and 50's with 45% humidity lights off. I know the 20 degree difference is a big jump, but at this time I don't see any negative effects. I will address it later when the weather gets colder. Rez temps are even more steady with the canopy filling out and stay at 65 degrees with the lights on...not sure about lights off, but my guess is as low as 50 degrees.

Next week I will start the flowering cycle.

First is of the 2 POG mothers I'm flowering, one lady was upset because she was very thirsty.

Next is the 32 site canopy shot along with the roots. Sorry about the canopy picture, but the light interferes with my camera. I'll take another later this evening.

Last are the Green Crack mothers which I will be taking clones from as soon as I get my lid cut for the netpots. Earl, I will be trying your suggestion of using no medium.

looking very nice bro your mothers are outstanding you should get you a digital thermometer that has a high/low and you can watch your temps even closer and see what they really are there only like 4 to 10 dollars at walmart
