what do you guys think? would it have any advantages over deep water culture?

like a combo of soil and hydro. would there be any benifit? throw the soil in the water and make it bubble with air pump


kinda like a bubbling bucket of mud

I'm not an expert at all, but it seems that it would be a bitch to deal with, being gloopy and gross, while providing no or little advantages. When you grow in soil you want the roots to get nutrients out of the soil. When you replace most of the soil with water you're taking all the nutrients that would be in the soil out. You'd be only replacing those nutrients with hydro nutes in the water. The point of hydro nutes for hydro set ups is so you get rid of the soil, so why add a little bit?

doesn't seem like a great idea to me but I could be missing something

ok my other crazy idea is do a DWC outdoors using a koi pond. it would have to be done in the persons back yard so you can run an extension cord for the air pump

I think would be sick if someone had small pond like that or dug a hole in the ground, filled it with pond liner if its just a hole, put a sheet of finished plywood or what have you over it, drill some net pod and water level holes, and put some air pumps in it to make it a huge dwc.

has anyone heard of a bathtub

if you want to make a big dwc setup
just install a bathtub inyour growroom
and then put plywood (laminated) over it with netpot holes
a bathtub would make it ez to drain and change the water out

That was one of my earlier setups. I converted a full bath into a half bath by putting up a wall. I cut a door to the "tub room" from the closet behind it. It worked wonderfully, but I had to change the plywood cover almost every grow because of mildew. It soaked up a lot of moisture
