pharmaceutical company's and weed?

Gygax1974

Just some idiot
Yep, and you and I would not want to smoke pharma weed, they would ruin it. I was actually going to ask the same question....Do you really think if they legalized it that you and I would be able to grow it? No way, they want full control 100%. In fact I would even venture to say that the penalties would not change for unlicesend (sp?) growers...i.e. me and you would still have to worry.:spew:

I'm sure they already realize this but, the guys running the government get these fat bundles of money called "Campaign Contributions" the pharma companies invest lots of money in politicians.
That is what I mean, they make too much money form pharm drugs now.

If all the governments realized just how much money they could make of the legalization of marijuana by taxing it, they would do in in a heart beat. They will have to do something once everyone quits smoking cigs, cause they will always be pot smokers eh?
I think there in lies the problem with our philosophy. An end to prohibition would produce loads of revenue and save a lot of money......for the taxpayers. Think of who would be losing lots of money. The Rx, alcohol, tobacco companies. All of which have huge allotments of cash for lobbyists. Most importantly the DEA. they're not gonna give up a huge chunk of their budget lightly. There's too much money in prohibition.

I have a question for everyone. Realistically, when do you think pot will be legalized for medical use? fully legalized for general use? What will be the catalyst that gets that final ball rolling?

there's a patented drug in canada and europe called sativex.. it uses THC and CBD (i think) in an oral spray to offer pain relief for something. it was created and is produced by a partnership of canadian and european pharm companies. i think the only place that uses it right now is the uk

I think it will take motivating every stoner and medical user to get active. If you are not a registered and active voter you are part of the problem, you can't wait for someone else to do it for you. We must educate ourselves and talk to voters who do not partake and show to them why prohibition is wrong. We also all need to show others that there is such a thing as Responsible cannabis use. The biggest myth that really gets non users against us is what I call the cowabunga effect. That's the stereotypical hollywood stoner, Jeff Spicole' from Fast Times, the canadians from Knocked Up. This is what people that don't use pot think of when they think of pot users. People think pot makes you stupid and nobody wants a bunch of "dumb stoners" running around. We need to be living examples that this is not the case.

I think it will happen in Canada before the U.S.,

well since the mid 80's we've had marinol which has a synthetic version of thc.
That's what I've heard about. For terminally ill patients there are THC pills, but some find them incredibly overwhelming and they just knock you out. They also cost tens of thousands of dollars per year.
