!!!NOTE: the following was typed out by my little brother. he is not old enough to have his old account so i opened one up today so he could get this cleared up. im only even allowing him to do this because i think it is very necesarry. im not breaking any rules as it is a quote. thanks
"Im 16 years old and was diagnosed with clinical depression (MDD to be exact) 2 days ago and my doctor prescribed Prozac. I went into the doctors office for my stress problems that were leading to major anxiety and insomnia. I picked up the prescription, went home and researched Prozac. I found that it is known for its ridiculasly high suicide rates. I also found that it is very addictive and not very good for the stomach in long term use. I find this kind of scary that they would prescribe this to a 16 year old but I would only like to take this unless i absolutely have to. I know alot about marijuana (scientificly) from research and many documentaries and am a fairly experienced toker. i find that when I blaze, these problems are no longer exsistant. i want to ask my doctor about getting a MMJ card but dont want to look like an idiot getting rejected as it is a doctor most of my family uses. i think that marijuana will be alot better and safer for my symptoms. i got angry really easily and punch walls and shit like that and i am pretty peaceful when im high. Im just seeing if you guys know if you can get a card at 16 and if my symptoms are ones that they would prescribe MM for. on a grass-city forum, disease specific strains post shows anxiety, sleep and depression under one section and this has me convinced as ppl must use MM for these reasons. here is the link if you wanna check that out as its extremely helpful even for the average stoner i would really appreciate if you guys could tell me if its worth a try or where i could find out this info so i dont look like some sketchy pothead when i get rejected. thanks alot. peace " bongsmilie:eyesmoke:

Good luck, but don't get your hopes up. Its a different game when your health care is provided to you essentially free. You are also very young, they are going to want to try a lot of other things before giving you MMJ, if they ever do. To the best of my knowledge you have to be 18 or older to even be prescribed. Give it a shot but don't be even more depressed when your doc outright says no.

p.s.

Let him know you arent comfortable with the prozac. You want a NATURAL remedy. Don't outright say Marijuana. Try everything he gives you and if he never suggests MMJ then bring it up after you have gone though a few different things

thanks alot. we'll give it a shot.

keep us updated, your first step is to tell him you are worried about the prozac and you don't like how it makes you feel, say you would like to try a more natural way. See what he comes up with and whatever it is take it and wait a week or so and tell him it's not working, try another thing he either prescribes or suggests(herbal remedy) and again come back and tell him its not working or something is wrong (upsets your stomach, makes you extremely tired ect..) Then you can go ahead and suggest MMJ.. But be careful on how you ask. Make sure you present yourself properly and have the proper facts. Most doctors in Ontario do not prescribe MMJ for conditions such as yours unfortunately. You may have a long fight to actually get it, and then every year you have to "renew".
Don't try to rush him, he will not sign unless he knows you have tried other things.
And don't ever ask for your "Med Card", as such "Card" does not exist in Canada to the best of my knowledge.
