Been under there for about a day and a half so far. About 5 feet distance.

How long do I have to wait before I can move the light closer? I'm afraid they will stretch.

I'd wait for the 2nd set of real leaves, they don't need much light that young.

got any pic's ?

plants/ seedlings (how old ?) will stretch if starved for light .... ( no veg time ? )

light cycle ..? 12/12 ?

I'd put the light wihin a couple feet and watch for signs of too much light or heat ..
if it's too much for the little one's .. turn the lights off for an hour .. watch for any burning or wilting ...... if they are folding out leaves that turn green and healthy ... your doin' it right

I veg in full sun ...

3rd pic ... 600 w Hps w/in a few inches ... ventilated hood plus supplemental cfl's

Seedling are 2 days old now.
18/6. I think 24 is too long for for such young plants under HID.

I should be using fluorescents, but I can't due to a few reasons.
My concern: If I keep the light at 5 feet it will cause stretch. If I bring it close too early it will fry 'em.

rule of thumb if u put your hand over the top of your plant for 1 min if it heats your hand up so that it is hot then it is probably to hot for your seedlings.....
