Multiple 600 HPS or Just one 1000 WATT?

i am new to this indoor growing scene but i am anxious to get it going in my brand new appartment :) :) :)
Should i invest in acouple 600 Watts or get just one 1,000 Watt? im going to have twenty plants (legal limit) sooooo how many lights do i need? i plan on doing cycles of ten every two month or so. any ideas, also i will divide the room in half for half veg half flower.
aghyh another noob question: What lights should i have above the veg plants and what lights should i have above the flowering plants. Metal handle, HPS?

ADVISE is NEEDED before i drop a shit load of money on this and I WANT TO DO IT RIGHT!!!!!!:leaf:

its only acouple questions, break it down everyone, c'mon im tryna get this shit going..... how many lights (1000 WATTS) required for twenty flowering plants? 1 light per 6 plants?

I'd get at least 3 x 600w if you plan on growing 20 plants.....you wont regret it :^)

I use hps all the way through....works for me....but other people might think mh is better for veg

A couple of 600w lights will give more light than a single 1000w.
They can't have too much light, as far as I know.
MH is usually used for veg. HPS for flowering. Some people use dual bulbs.

ya .. IDEAL would be MH for veg and HPS for flowring .. but if u only want one spectrum or only can afford one spectrum, go HPS allll the way man ... mh will produce smaller buds (but ssome say it is better quality b/c MH emits UVB rays that makes better quality, supposely) .. but over-all .. Hps good sir .. i ahave flowered with an mh and flowred with a hps, and the hps .. is .. well .. is overwhemling better IMOP.... take it for what it is worth ;) :-P

fasho thanks, i think i'll start with HPS the whole way through and then uprade in 3-4months ya know what i mean?

I feel like it works better... I like to try and keep things as simple as possible....a friend uses mh for veg and I don't see the difference really..... but I have only been growing indoors for a couple of years now,,,so am but no means an expert with expert knowledge

I would save the life of your hps bulb for flower only dude and use cfl's for VEG......... Or waste the life of ur HPS and use it all the way threw, its completely wrong for veg... but it will grow things..

MH - Grow
HPS - Bloom(flower)

MH for bloom.... LMAO thats retarded.

Lights need a certain spectrum for peak growth.

Look for some 6400k CFL bulbs to save the life of your HPS.

Or just keep using ur HPS up to u man

Lol man i would buy a mh/hps Conversion light kit..... if you want things done the correct way.

he asked weather 2 x 600w HPS were better than 1 x 1000w HPS.........and do some research I think you'll find a 600w HPs is as good as a MH for veg

600 watt conversions or one of each.

My MH bulb will out veg your HPS bulb, then come time to Flower I use HPS.

Ive seen them grown under HPS dude like i said it can be done but i do it the right way with he proper spectrum's...

forgot to add the 2 600 over 1000's

not true u can have to much light if your plants are growing new leaves that are green but kinda lighter color its sun bleaching if at top of plant and of course providing nitrogen is good

DUDE thanks, this is what i NEEDED, some correct information. Okay so the CFL idea wasnt bad but i think the convertion kit sounds the best. Much apppreciated bro!
