yeahh too bad im not legal so it dont mean much to me even if its true. look for another dispensery to be raided in weeks to come

It says as long as the paperwork is good they can't bust you. Any infringement at all can still be nailed. Since most dispensaries make mistakes, either on purpose or accidentally, it doesn't change anything. He is just trying to make himself look good.

This is so silly. So you have a "Drug" that is schedule 1 (which has no medicinal purpose) that is now selectively enforced by the Feds depending on your locale. If you are in Cali, nothing to worry about - if you are in Kansas bend over and grab your ankles.

So what you have is a Federal law (predicated on the assumption that Cannabis (A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse. (B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. (C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision." No prescriptions may be written for Schedule I substances) that is being ignored for certain people in certain states while being applied to others. If you agree that cannabis is medicine (which they are by recognizing prescriptions) - then you agree that it is not schedule 1. If it is not schedule 1 than why is ANYONE in the United States prosecuted as if it is? I wish they would end this pointless ineffective drug war. It has been shown that treatment is more successful and CHEAPER than incarceration.

If you are one of the 13 states that have medical cannabis this is great news for you - for your brothers in the other 37 states they will still be prosecuted for possession or sale of a schedule 1 drug. Can we say delusional?

As a resident of Colorado- I am in one of the 13 states that gets medical marijuana as a real thing. This is connected to the current Health Care Horror that exists in the US! It is seriously good news that the US is going to tone down its prosecution of medical marijuana providers. Don't Bogart that joint Barack!! Elections have consequences! I first heard this story on the Daily Kos- not a site that is big on marihuana legalization. Yes- I spelled it with an H!

I'm all for decriminalization, but i'm fishy as well. Obama isn't gonna go down in history as the president who legalized marijuana, he's more worried about healthcare. I do see this as a small step in the right direction. Keep in mind, i'm a conservative-republican, and yes i am working to change the stereotypical view that all republicans are against legalization.

This is good news for med patients and dispensaries, but that's about it.

Now they're going to use they're limited resources to pursue illegal growers, and dealers....

I think they're most concerned with the ones coming across the Mexican boarder, and bringing weapons with them... but they also bigger fish to fry than joe sixpack with a garden next to his home brewery, I think.

Still I'm hoping Illinois legislators get to work passing Medical MJ laws here, before the deadline Nov 30th. :neutral:

"IL Senate Bill 1381 introduces the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act. The law would allow a person with a debilitating illness and their primary caregiver to be issued a registry identification card for the legal possession of small quantities of marijuana. While exact quantities are being debated, the bill as introduced, would limit the number of plants a person could possess to less than seven and the amount of dried cannabis to two ounces. The legislation would automatically be repealed three years after its introduction. Its purpose therefore appears to be to provide a trial of medical marijuana use. The bill's deadline for action is November 30, 2009."

I'm in indiana. If illinois becomes a MMJ state, I'll basically be surrounded by marijuana friendly states. Michigan has MMJ and Ohio is decriminalized(?).

It has to becoming my way soon :-?

Then you obviously have no place here or know nothing of the subject... to doubt a policy that WILL go into effect... just like all the others that DID go into effect.

Oh and genius, the last policy that went into effect haulted DEA raids. All clinics geting raided now are for-profit, illegal ops. Learn your shit.

For everyone else without a medical rec... how hard is it to not get busted... quit being stupid in public. Years of smoking before my card, never hassled once for it. Blaze at home with frends not in a parking lot waiting to get rolled and be the next ass on cops.
