Which is the lesser of 2 evils??

So I have a plant that is flowering under a 250w hps but the temp in the space gets way too hot (gets up to 95 at times). I removed the hps and now have a 110w HO T5 flo setup on the plant.

So which is the lesser of 2 evils.... keeping the hps with the high temps or going with the weak lights not ideal for flowering?

If the T5 is 2700k I would go with it. Those can be fatal temps.

My plants were growing just fine in a box that averaged 85-95F, and with Co2 has been shown to be an optimum temperature.

Do you not have a cool tube on your hps? How are you ventilating do you have any fans?
Yeah no cool tube, just a basic reflector hood. And unfortunately no ventilation and probably won't be able to... that's the main problem that is letting those temps get to crazy levels. I just have a small fan blowing on the top of the plant.

The hps makes the closet about 10-12 degrees hotter than when i have the T5 running. Arghh.

http://www.planetnatural.com/site/xdpy/kb/implementing-co2.html is an article about plants general usage of Co2. The usage is about the same but many people on here claim that temps of about 90F actually work best with the correct amount of Co2. I'd still try to keep your temps around 80F but personally when it's not to much of an extreme of that I just let it go generally to save some time/money. The main thing imo is not really the general rule of thumb temperature, but the temperature your plants genetics prefer so try a few things out and learn your strain, it will help immensely when you get clones of the same plant going.

Hummm.. just a thought, cannabis is known to grow in the real world, as in OUTSIDE in the sunshine! I believe the outdoor temps will at times EXCEED 85, 90, 95, and yes even 100 degrees. So what the hell are you on about FATAL TEMPS.?
Good luck & good grow......BB

you have to cool that shit down, it's innefficient but use a ghetto cooling device

get a fan from walmart

a 5 gallon bucket with a lid from home depot

install the fan so it points down into the bucket

drill holes on the side of the bucket, 3/4 of the way up

fill that puppy up with some ice + water every morning, bout half way or a lil less...add about 2 tbsp of salt and stir. ths will make the water get salty and get cooler than the ice, making the ice last longer, sort of like glacial fresh water ice falling into the ocean and remaining as a huge ice structure (iceberg) for months, even years....

put the lid on and turn the fan on, give it a try, it's only 3 bux for the bucket and 8 bux for the fan.... make the ice in the freezer using 5-6 of those red cups filled with water , the ones used for beer pong n shit.... i'm not saying it will work, but if you ain't venting, try it...
