Hi guys
I posted a pic of my seedling lastnight, and people said it was stretching a little bit because of insufficient light.
I bought it a 42 watt CFL, which should be sufficient for now as its just a seedling.

The problem:
Lastnight the CFL was hanging 2" from the plant, and I woke up this morning and something (or someone) knocked my bulb down and it was laying on top of my seedling.

It kind of bent him... he looks like a candycane now but other than that it's healthy.

My question is... its right at the end of its 18/6 light cycle, but the light was on top of it for god knows how long lastnight....
Should I turn the lights off now and keep going with the cycle, or should I extend the lights to help perk him back up?

Okay..
The light cycle ended 16 minutes ago, but I still have the lights on.

You're suggesting that I just shut them off for 6, and then continue with my cycle?

Won't it stretch even worse in the dark because of the light conditions it had lastnight?

Try and stand the seedling back up as best you can. Take some additional soil (you are in soil, right?) and bury the stretched stem of the seedling up to the first node. This will help give it more support.

You can try to brace the seedling up with a stake (a skewer or something similar) until it is strong enough without it. At this point though, you should just bury the stem below the first node and hope it turns around on its own. If it's not too damaged you'll be ok.

He's not damaged at all, the candycane effect was caused because the light was laying to the side of the seedling so it curled downwards to look at the light during the night.

What do you mean the first node btw?
This is what my seedling looks like( outdated by 1 day, but not much change)

EWWWWWWWWWW

bury that stem.. and get another 42watter, and then get a y spliter...then boom ...

BTW bury it up to the first set of leaves.

The reason it looks so stretched is because on the 16th(when it sprouted) up until yesterday it was only using a 15W CFL bulb so it stretched to try and find more light.

She's got a 42 Watt CFL bulb now, but only one.
I have two, but somebody said I should only be using 1 at the moment.

you can leave the light on 24/7 for 2 weeks. where the leaves are now is your 1st node

Looks fine bro.

A node=point on stem from which leaves and branches form. Eventually you'll have many nodes. You want them to be as tightly spaced as possible (not stretched) because the buds form at the nodes, so tight nodes=bigger buds.

In your case, you've only got one node...the first. Bury the stem under soil up to that first set of leaves, but don't cover the leaves. Then move your light MUCH closer...like 2" close to the bulb.

that above pic looks like the seedling is searching for light to save its life! a little closer? stronger light source? good luck little one! bongsmilie i experimented with fluoros...made mine stretch like mofo's...similar to what i see up there. actually...i stretched mine out to see what could happen (only bagseed) Those plants are wicked spindly and stretched to fuck (2-3 inches between nodes). I kinda feel bad now :( haha probably males anyways...bongsmilie

Okay, so this is what I did:

Is that sufficient, or should I bury it even more?

it looks like it should be ok for now. kind of press the soil in around the stem to make sure she's proped up good and won't sag when you turn your back. as long as the temperature permits, keep that light on there and nice and close.
