Hello, I am a first time grower. I was looking through fourms one day and i discovered a post... It was a guy trying to grow without the equipment (£100 Lamps) and i decided to make my own grow diary.

Im going to demonstrate that you can grow a small amount of marijuana under crappy normal lamps, crappy cooling and all that stuff. I will post weekly (if not daily) to keep you guys up to date...

Since a first time grower, i didn't want to bother any of the thousand seed banks so i got my seeds of a guy who knows a guy in my local area...

At the moment, i have one seed straight in soil under my normal, Energy saving lamp in compost, One seed in a cup of water in the dark and two seeds between two moist tissues.

Thankyou for reading/caring and i will hopefully get a good result (If any) :blsmoke:

Please leave your feedback below, I dont mind being called insane but please tell me why so maybe i have more of a chance of a good crop :eyesmoke::mrgreen:bongsmilie

Normal houselights as in incandescent bulbs?

Those are no good
Ive been told by many people they arn't any good but its that or nothing, Im not paying $195.00 for HPS lamps when my whole harvest wont be worth more than $20 lol

Edit: I would b insanly greatful if you could suggest something i can use instead, just to get harvests of about half an ounze per plant thats less than say £30? thanks 4 your help :blsmoke:

Like tom posted cfl bulbs are the best budget option. Use the 6500k rated bulbs for vegging and switch to 2700k for flowering. Regular invendecent bulbs are useless. Cfl's (Compact flourecents) do a decent job.

Or he could get a light like that and it would blow away his CFL results
I guess if he isn't trying to spend a lot of money CFL's is the only way to go
I don't see a point in growing when you are on a real tight budget
Just buy crappy weed and save your pennies until you can afford something that will reward you greatly for all your hard work
I generally agree but they are going to do it anyway and it can be fun if not very rewarding. I started out with a 1000watt hps and never looked back...lol

THis thread has a lot of really good info in it for the original poster about cfl's: https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/258840-42w.html#post3262523

i respect you tom but do you even realize how this sounds???
if anything i rather the young man get a 1 gallon pot and grow on his window sill,THATS how you save up some dough!!

DONT ever go to a fuckin supplier, all they do is grow the shit, strip it of the thc and sell you the weed, why do you think these dickheads buy half pounds, damn near already broken up ready to be bagged?

dude, just grow with sunlight, let it get till about 8 or so inches and hope for the best....fuck a dealer

If the thread says that the person is new, trying to grow with CFL's, or using a bubbleponics system that dude will copy and paste that same info into it
I have seen it so many times it is almost irritating, I am going to put that dude on ignore

To the OP: you cannot grow with normal incadescent light bulbs.

You need the spiral looking cfls. Bluish white color for vegging, reddish orange white color for flowering.

Go to the CLF sub forum on this site and read everything.

FYI I've pulled bout 3.5 ounces off two plants using nothing but cfls. Good quality pot too. (then again I used good seeds...that's something else that you are going to want to consider)

Hell my total expenses INCLUDING seeds? $125 - $130. 3.5 ounces = $125. (meaning my cost was about $1.25 per gram) You tell me if it was worth it? Plus I still have all the lights...still have 4 seeds...(with another strain on it's way) still have all the flower pots...and plenty of fertilizer left. If I kept growing the same strain and used those final 4 seeds...(regular sex) I'd probably be able to get my cost to 75 cents or less per gram.

Uv bulbs are only supposed to be used as supplemental light, not your main light
Your options are CFL's (those spiral bulbs), tube florescents, or HPS/ MH

MH/HPS being the best and those other two are about even

One light is a mistake. You need like 8 - 10 of them. You can veg under a normal fluorescent light fixture. I did and it cost $20 at Ace Hardware to purchase the fixture/tubes. Normal shop light version...they generally come with cool tubes or the store will have cheap cool tubes available. Then you need to buy a bunch of 99 cent extension cords. You also have to buy socket adapters to plug into the chord and screw the bulbs into them. They are like a $1.50 each. You can buy y splitter version of them so that two bulbs are held by one socket...for maybe $2 - 2.50 each? As I mentioned earlier you need two different color spectrum of bulbs. a cool spectrum and a warm spectrum. Go to the cfl forum...really. You can buy bulbs everywhere. That's the beauty of cfl. I've seen them dirt cheap on ebay too. You need 2 cool bulbs and 6 - 8 warm ones. (because you already bought plenty of blue light when you bought that shop light earlier. Plants like mixed spectrums of light (with a heavy lean toward more orange) in flowering. I'd keep your whole set up blue in vegging.
