I have grown a single small plant (1.5 foot at harvest) under CFL's and it turned out okay. I used 4 of them in the beginning and added 2 more as it got taller.

Have a T5 fixture used for rooting clones and starting seedlings. Low heat and energy consumption, plus the plants love it.

If you really want to grow, HPS is great! My tent is "staffed" with a 600w HPS and 400w MH lamp assembly. Everything that comes out of there is primo.

They are about as common as marijuana growing in the middle of london lol... Nah they aint but i mite have 2 get some cheap lights... tbh guys im not looking to make a marijuana factory lol, i just want say 3 plants producing say a max of 2 ounzes 2gether... ive got like £50 ($85-$90) to spend on lights ;)

Any 1 basic cheap light i can just have above a small plant pot in the corner? ;)
like would a fluorescent b enough (Idealy this one... http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=51907 that tom suggested)

I might just get one plant going strong to begin with one of those lights and a fuck load of tinfoil LOL, thanks 4 the help guys, i would be sitting here working out how to grow under a shitty normal lightbulb xD thanks soo much:eyesmoke:

NO TIN FOIL!!!!!
tin foil causes hot spots, either paint the walls flat white or get some black and white panda plastic

Ok, il just leave everything as it is, under a light with reflector... my walls are already white so its all gud :D, with those lights, i need to put them as close to the plant as possible right?

btw my seeds arn't even germinating yet lol, once they germinate and ive put them in compost mix, should i put the light on the soil straight away?? thanks :mrgreen:

As close as you can get without burning the plants
You are going to need to get some sort of exhaust fan setup

Hey again... Yeah il order a decent fan but im now stuck with the problem of those lights again :S
Shall i get the red spectrum or blue or both together? thanks ;)

And back to the grow diary so far... Thismorning i threw the seed out that had been growing under heat lamps in soil with water, i hope these new seeds i managed to get hold of are abit better quality ;)

That will NOT replace a 600 watt hps
If you get that light you will have stretchy plants and a very small yield
LED's are not practical enough to use yet, you need to drop like 1000 dollars minimum if you want a halfway decent LED grow

So mate, ow bout i put abita dollar aside n get like £40 ($60-70) 2 spend on like two CFL lamps?
i quite like the idea of just the bulbs that i can put into lamps since of ive already got lamps that take normal bulbs ;)

thanks 4 help, i wont b splashing $1000 on a shitty LED light netime this lifetime ;)

I believe that those big CFL's plug into a mogul socket not a regular
Do you have mogul sized sockets? Mogul sockets are just bigger where the bulb screws in

What dyu mean, I thought if its worth doing it's worth doing right, if I could go back in time I would have got a cooltube instead of the HPS I ended up with, you get me?
