Washington, DC: United States Deputy Attorney General David Ogden issued a memorandum to federal prosecutors on Monday directing them to not "focus federal resources ... on individuals whose actions are in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state laws providing for the medical use of marijuana."
The directive upholds a campaign promise by President Obama, who had previously pledged that he was "not going to be using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws on this issue."
Commenting on the directive, NORML Executive Director Allen St. Pierre said: "We applaud the administration for discouraging the use of federal resources to improperly target and prosecute state-authorized medical marijuana patients and their providers. However, this directive ushers a change in policy rather than a change in law. A better solution would be for Congress to move expeditiously to pass House Bill 2835, The Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act of 2009, which would ensure – once and for all – that medical cannabis patients in states that have approved its use will no longer have to fear arrest or prosecution from federal law enforcement agencies."
Introduced in June, HB 2835 has 29 co-sponsors. The measure awaits action from the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. This was sent to me from NORMAL

hmmmmmmm ...did Fox not say that they are a entertaiment network..not news.....so Obama did not raise war on the news network but an entertainment network that likes to spread BS to ignorant people who to stupid or old to check facts for themselves....In a way I'm glad fox and republicans do the things that they do , so we see just how wrong they are... Keep up the good work Sean "Lie" Headity, Gin Beck, Bill "Pervert" O'reilly and Rush "Racist" Limbaugh making it very easy for Obama 2012..The only votes you getting will be the same teabaggers who voted for Mccain... Obama keep doing what you doing to Fox...who needs them....keep doing the peoples business

So you're basically saying to Obama "Keep doing nothing because you're not getting shit done". Unfortunately, eventhough Obama is our first black U.S. President, he will go down in history as one of the worst U.S. Presidents as well. Maybe not at first. . . while the liberals are controlling the media and textbook resources, but the History Channel seems to have caught up with the bad presidents from the past. The Big O is just that. . . a big zero!

I've been involved in a couple threads with you where I call you out on something and I get a "I'll get back to you with that" Palinesque reply. Many of your posts are personal attacks and rarely have I seen any kind of constructive analysis. So, for what it's worth, ur ignored. And enjoy the new deomocratic future; ur ideals are old hash.

Hmmmmm, so that's AABC, correct? 'cause afraid and down don't rhyme. Maybe the last phrase should be "Step outta line the men come and make you obey". Not quite rhyming but closer. Of course, I guess it doesn't haven't to rhyme. . . it could just be a touchy feely thing, I don't know too many touchy feely people though, unless their name is like Sky or Rain or something. I'm gonna name my kid Reign, like a king or ruler. That would be kind of oxymoronic since the name sounds all peaceful and loving but it kind of means like a monarchy ruler!

Ha!

Here's the real reason for the attack on FOX News ...

Fox News has pulled off another dominant quarter, claiming the top 10 cable news programs in 3Q 2009 and growing against 3Q 2008, while CNN and MSNBC lost substantial portions of their election-boom audience.
Fox News averaged 2.25 million total viewers in prime time for the third quarter, up 2% over the previous year. That's more than CNN (946,000, down 30%) and MSNBC (788,000, down 10%) combined.
"The O'Reilly Factor" led all cable news programs with an average of 3.295 million total viewers for the quarter, up 12% over the previous year. "Hannity" (2.603 million, up 9%), "Glenn Beck" (2.403 million, up 89%), "On the Record with Greta van Susteren" (2.150 million, up 16%), and "Special Report with Bret Baier" (1.997 million, up 20%) rounded out the top five.
Meanwhile, flagship programs at MSNBC and CNN did not sustain their growth from 3Q 2008: At MSNBC, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" averaged 1.087 million total viewers, down 12% from the previous year and "The Rachel Maddow Show" averaged 996,000 total viewers (Maddow began the program in September 2008, so a comparison for the quarter would be inaccurate; compared to September 2008, though, Maddow's September 2009 total viewer average is down 40%). At CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" averaged 1.005 million viewers, down 17% from the previous year and "Lou Dobbs" averaged 658,000 total viewers, down 24%. Larry King and Campbell Brown were both down just slightly in total viewers.
CNN in particular had a rough quarter in the primetime Adults 25-54 demo: the network dropped 39% compared to 3Q 2008, averaging 287,000 viewers.

One more tidbit that might contradict your little hate-fest directed towards me: I'm NOT A BLOGGER.

It's still funny though! You libbies can't stand it when people post something that is derogatory to your beliefs but still get's peoples attention.

GOOD POST ObamaSanta!
lopezri: Why do you side with people who hate you?

You're gay, right? Don't you realize the republicans HATE gays? It's like a black person joining the KKK, for pete's sake.

Wake up and smell the modus operandi of your political party, already!

How is posting a cartoon picture of a half naked MAN titled "liberal bloggers" in any way offensive to me?

I'm not a man, I'm not LIBERAL, and I'm not a freaking blogger.

Nice try for what intellect you guys are working with, though. My 5 year old son can come up with better zingers than that.

Don't forget FINALLY raising the cap on Pell Grants that stagnated under the Bush administration. Hundreds of thousands of college students can now afford textbooks AND food!
