Windows 7

I can get Windows 7 for $30 because I'm a student. Is it worth the upgrade from Vista? I Know the 64 bit Vista had some compatibility problems. Does the 64 bit version of Windows 7? Would you go Home or Professional.

I'd get it because I don't think you can get 7 yet in a lot of places. My friend bought a computer a couple days ago, and he couldn't get it with 7 on it.

As with all things Microsoft, you will be the beta testing squad if you purchase an OS before Service Pack 1 is released. Some people enjoy this, others do not. I cannot see any "upgrade" to it, just something different.

i agree 100% wait until they release service pack 1 even though windows 7 looks great there will still be some things that need to be fixed .

Pfft.

I'm still using XP.

Vista is garbage, it's worth it to DOWNGRADE from IMHO
Windows 7 is not much different. I downloaded and cracked it, been running it on my laptop for a bit now, I'm about fed up to the point
where I'm just going to run linux on it again.

So many problems with it, to say the very least. The absolute biggest frustration is fucking networking though! FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
makes me so agitated lol.

Are you sure that there is not an issue with the stack on the cracked version DJB? I am running Linux on my server and desktop machines, Vista on my laptop. While I like the speed and versatility of Linux, I have to have at least this one machine for gaming and such. Stepped off the MS treadmill though long ago.

I'm currently running XP on my gaming desktop, and windows 7 on my laptop. I'm just going to up linux on that instead.

You pretty much have to have windows for gaming though, XP is pretty much the most stable and viable option currently.

Fucking Microsoft, always sucking.

In what way does Linux suck? Just curious.

I have to say that Windows improved upon itself greatly with the release of XP, but beyond that it has been little more than window dressing and it still crashes on occasion. That is my def of "sucks".

My Linux boxes do not crash, regardless of load or app being run.

Linux fuckin rox Windows is total garbage. If it wasn't for Linux this comp I'm on wouldn't work. Plus name 1 virus for Linux, I'm pretty sure theres about 50,000 for Windows. The only downfall that Linux has is that many companies don't make their software or hardware compatible with it, but the large community of people who use the OS have found ways around it.
