Theres alot of hate when it comes to Miracle Gro. Return it and get something better.

I use Pro-Mix Bx, perlite, vermiculite. 60/25/15 mixture. Its newbie friendly, aka hard to overwater since it drains well.

Forgot to mention 1 or 2 tablespoons of Dolomite Lime per gallon to help buffer the ph.

Theres a million different combinations one can use for their medium. Use the search function here and you'll learn alot.

If you encounter any problems place a layer of sand half an inch deep on top of your soil. That will prevent them from laying eggs in your soil.

If you're worried about buying soil that may have gnat larvae in it, buy it from somewhere that stores the soil indoors rather than outdoors.
