light breaks down thc, at night it replenishes it. so if u give it 24hrs(all you really need imo, 48hr is fine if u want to though) of dark it will not have had any light to break down the thc it replenished during the darkness.

Maybe right befor you harvest?????
oops,i assumed that he meant b4 harvest but now that ive re-read it i see he didnt say anything about b4 harvest specifically. thanks for catching my mistake for me. original poster- iright b4 harvest is when you use the 24-48hr dark trick. some like to do it when switching from veg to flower also but i never have done it when switching from veg to flower. some swear it helps and others that it dont, you could give it a shot if u wanted i guess.

It is said that by putting a plant in total darkness for 24/48 hours before it goes in the flowering room this helps the plant get into flowering mode alot faster.I have done this my self and too be honest not alot of differance than just putting them in the flowering room straight from veg on 12/12off.But i would always flush the plants with water ph of 5.5 and let the major part of the soil dry out while under lights before adding any flowering nutrients.

i would think that putting a plant into 24+ hours of darkness going from veg to flower would greatly increase your odds of a plant going hermie, and the loss of a day of flowering
but yes on the 24-48 hours of darkness b4 you harvest. after the last light cycle of budding, the only light my ladies see after that is the reflection off the blades of my shears

giving them 24 to 36 hours prior to flowering DOES help out a lot.. it definitely speeds up sexing (if not using clones or fem'd seeds), kick starts flowering, and takes time of the total length of flowering.. i will gladly give up a one 12/12 light cycle to save up to a week or so of total flowering... if you use good genetics, and a stable strain, you shouldnt have any worries about hermies.. i have done this every grow with no problems related to it... just quicker flowering...

as far as prior to harvest, well, its been said already... it helps... 24 hours is plenty of time tho...

The theory behind this is that that plants begin consuming the stored nutes and chlorophyll in order to continue to growing the buds. I have read some info that this technique shaves some time needed to cure the final product.
