First HID Grow: Couple Bagseeds, Jock Horror

What's up RIU,
Yesterday I took delivery of my new 400W Metal Halide / HPS system from HTG. Using the Digital Greenhouse ballast & AgroMax MH (AgroMax HPS for flowering).

Everything seems alright for now. I've tried a couple grows before this one with CFL's and all of them failed; the plants started curling up and died. Since then I've invested in the right water, soil, and now, lights! Enough talk; here's some pics:

Setup:
400W MH ~ 30 inches away at the moment.
Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil
Oscillating Fan
Distilled Water
Temps anywhere from 79-84
2x Bagseed
1x Jock Horror (will add another tomorrow)

Bagseed #1 (4 days since popping through soil)

Bagseed #2 (4 days since popping)

The JH hasn't popped through the soil yet, but I can see the stem so it's only a matter of hours before it does. Any criticism/input? I am ordering Mylar soon, hopefully it helps! If everything goes well I will be adding either a White Rhino or Hawaiian Snow from Greenhouse Seeds.

Thanks man. I'd love to get the light closer, but I've read that you should keep it a little further away for seedlings because of the intensity of the MH?

Little update: Jock Horror has popped through! Hoping it's a female... G13 Pineapple Express fem & White Rhino (Greenhouse Seeds) fem are germinating! I also bought some FF Grow Big today; when should I start using it? I know the FF soil has enough nutes in it for a while; but when do you guys usually start with additional nutes?

Don't mind the crumpled up plant behind the bottle, it was one of my previous attempts which got burned by the CFL's. Pulling it tonight. RIP lol

You're still a few weeks out for the GB at least. Go very easy with it...I'm still trying to get the dosage right to keep the leaves from burning.

Yeah I figured a couple weeks for sure. I only plan on vegging them for about a month. Can I use the GB in early stages of flowering or should I use Tiger Bloom as soon as I switch?

Update: White Rhino and Pineapple Express (my only guaranteed females!) have sprouted and I will place them in soil soon. Here's some new photos; the MH is doing wonders!

This will be my last daily update, I'll update every other day from now on. I finally found my digital camera so we can finally look at some better pictures! G13 Pineapple Express and Greenhouse Seeds White Rhino (both feminized) have both successfully germinated and I've put them in their pots.

Light is still 24/0. Will slowly cut it back to 18/6 starting tonight.

Update: Bagseed #1 is really starting to take off! Not even two weeks since it popped through the soil! White Rhino and Pineapple Express have both popped through; and there's a lot of stretching. Weird because the bagseed's didn't stretch much at all, maybe the Indica/Sativa difference?

Anyways, here's some current photos, each picture is named including what strain and date. I'm topping Bagseed #1 in a couple days!

Looks like a good start man, hey FYI feminized seeds are by no means guaranteed females. The just have a better chance, and sometimes not much better. Hope that helps alittle. I wish i could assist you more on the seedlings but I'm never in dirt anymore, so there are people better than me to help out. Keep it up!

for ur nutes question, dont give them anything till they are three to four weeks of age unless you see signs of a nitro def around week two-three..good luck.. looking good

Thanks man. I think I'm going to veg for about 4-6 weeks so I might use the nutes only once before I put it into flowering.

Update: My MH bulb decided to blow yesterday but I am getting a replacement sent already. For now I am using the AgroMax 400W HPS; you guys think this would stress the plants at all or harm the vegging period? (Slow plant growth, etc.)

i only use HPS for grow cycle,i get a good 1.5'-2' in 3 weeks before i put in bloom so i don't see it hurting u at all

What brand of ballast are you using? If you're using Lumatek they are very finicky about which lights they will work with. Ive read a few threads about them not working well with AgroMax.

Digital Greenhouse ballast. I think I just turned the bulb off & turned it back on too quickly. (Was unplugging from wall & plugging into a timer)

Update: I topped Bagseed #1 tonight and hopefully everything works out with the plant and the clone! Looks like the HPS is doing just fine

October 31st...Halloween Update!!

I topped Bagseed #2 last night, again following Uncle Ben's method for 4 new colas. Bagseed #1 is exploding with new growth; only been a couple days since I topped it. Jock Horror has also started to blow up in size & is growing faster and faster everyday. It will be the next plant getting topped. White Rhino is a bit behind Pineapple Express which popped the same day WR did. I'm excited for these next months...
