My First Grow: DWC (open thread)

So i went to my local flower shop earlier this week and got some pesticide. I told them about my spider mite problem, and they gave me this spray. I sprayed the plants last night, and today it really looks like it helped quite a bit. There is still a lot of damage to the leaves tho, there are tons of little brown spots on the bottom of the leaves where the mites and eggs were. There are def still some mites alive, but the spray did do a lot of work. I will continue to spray once a week until harvest probably just to keep it at minimal levels. Ill have pics up tonight when the lights are on.

I'm really glad you are getting a bit of a handle on things. Good luck erradicating them as much as possible.

Keep it up bro. :bigjoint:

So there are some pics, im not really sure you can see the damaged area's very well but w/e.

About 5 weeks left of flowering so half way there!

Hopefully they will hold on after the infestation of spider mites.

Both of my clones made it, i gave one away. There is a pic of the one i have left. I am already putting in with the others at 12/12 because i saw that competition for clones to flower, and thought it would be fun to do on my own.

great to hear about the spider mites, hopefully it didn't have too large of an impact. and damn man, can't believe how fast time flies... you're coming to the last stage of your grow.

I re-sprayed the plants today, and im noticing that the everything is looking better. The damaged area's are starting to look better, and some of the shine is returning to those leaves that were damaged.

I moved the lights a little bit trying to get more light on the main cola's.

I put some string up to hold everything in place.

Overall im startin to feel better about the grow, and i think the plants will make it ok.

Kinda lost faith for a while there.

i had spider mites but i got rid of them with 50% iso alcohol and 50% water mixed up in a spray bottle. grab some "wilt proof" from the local nursery and spray wilt proof first then spray the alcohol on the under side of the leaves 20 min after you use wilt proof.
then re spray with the alcohol 15min after it dries

I used 50/50 mix about 2 weeks ago, and it worked, but i had a infestation that was just taking over so i got a full pesticide from the flower shop. It seems to be working.

Took some pics with the lights off today.

Topped off the res.

Ph and temps are great.

With the lights off you can really get an idea of the damage that was done by the spider mites. Right now though, they have been pretty much eradicated. I did my last spray on saturday, and the last 3 sprays have really taken care of the problem. The plants dont seem to be suffering to much, but well see in the next month. The buds are getting pretty big! I may or may not have picked a small popcorn nug and tasted it bongsmilie

poor babies. I'm glad you got things sorted, and it looks like the buds are fine. Some of the really bad leaves, I would pull, but not all at once, over a few days. And I just mean the really really bad ones. You have to leave some to catch the light.

:peace:

Slowly but surely gettin towards the end of this grow. The buds are gradually getting bigger and bigger, and there are just tons of crystals forming. I think since i had so much damage from spider mites ill keep using the nutes, and only flush for like 6-7 days at the end.

Been putting about a gallon of distilled water in everyday. I think im going to try and clean the res 1 more time before the end of this grow.

The roots are still white and looking great so im not to worried there.

It snowed about 3 inches the other day, and the bomb shelter dropped to about 60 with the lights off, is that a problem? Do i need to get a little space heater?

Here are some pics..

Glad to hear the buds are plumping and trichs are marching in.

If your roots look nice and white... I wouldn't mess with trying to clean out the rez. I'd just think you could do more harm than good if something accidentally happens. I know we run different stuff in our tanks, but I have never cleaned a rez mid grow.

About the temps, 60 is fine. I've read growers who I really trust say they have entire grows where nightime temps are around 55... and everything went fine by their account. Don't know if you know him... member name: Earl

Otherwise right on.

Im probably going to start flushing this weekend. It will be 8 weeks flowering on Halloween. Ive checked the trichomes with a little 10 dollar microscope i got at radio shack, and even tho its pretty hard for me to see the trichs they are still clear and cloudy with the occasional amber. So i feel like 2 weeks of flushing starting this weekend will be good.

The smell is really starting to change now, and i love it! My bomb shelter smells amazing!

I have started pulling off a lot of leaves that were dead, or really looked like they needed to be pulled.

Everything is going fine. Here are some pics.

hey can anyone help me out. Is it possible for my plant to be making seeds already? One of the branches at the very bottom i cut off because it was getting no light, and falling down from the plant, and there were def. seeds in there. How is that possible it hasnt even been 8 weeks flowering. Is it because it was at the bottom getting no light? Or is my plant getting to mature and needs to be cut??

I am not sure on any of this, but I do believe it can be making seeds already. I don't know much about it, only that i got some lame tiny seed type things in my first grow.

I would say that some parts of your plant may be seeding. I would guess it from the stress and lack of light.

Not really sure what to do about it. My guess is let things try to finish, unless you start seeing seeds everywhere, then cut it. I don't know how good cutting parts off now would be... it might stunt the other parts.

I would start a thread in plant problems on this one.

Sorry bro.

So i have been flushing for about 5 days now, and there were some branches at the bottom that were mature enough to cut, and they were all out of the light pretty much. So i decided to get a few of them out of the way. Man its gunna suck to trim BOTH plants, i can already tell how much time its going to take.

The plants really do look good in person regardless of the yellowing leaves. The buds smell great, but fresh.

I took my last pics before the harvest, and i took some pics of what i chopped tonight. I might take 1 more pic before it all comes down.

Almost there! Although i do feel a little worn out from the many problems i encountered. I cant wait to start my next grow and have it go perfect, because i now know so much more.

Pics!

You really should pick up some spring loaded scissors from Michaels, or Walmart or something... makes things so much easier.

Great job. I'm glad it's almost over for you.
