First ag grow why is it to long twiggy not bushy

Hi this is my first, actually my second attempt to grow in the AG first one was a seed i got out of my stash and decided to go for it. turned out to be a male, bastard. Funny how the male can take so much punishment cat ate half of it didnt check ph and no nutes and He never showed a sign of stress but grew as healthy as i could imagine but was a male.

This time i bought fem autoflowering lowryder seeds. i like to grow one at a time just in case something goes wrong i wont lose it all, also trial and error for when i grow my next one . currently shes 35 days old she is a female deff. much tougher to grow than that male, but ive been noticing for a lowryder she is to tall very twiggy not as bushy as i want her to be.
been using the reg AG lights just added a cfl 23w 2700k light to it. had a ph problem in the beginning corrected it as for nutrients ive been using flora nova bloom plant food from general hydroponics. any help would be appreciative.

I'm freaking out i just noticed a few of my pistils changing color to orange to prematurely on day 36 I'm worried dont know if its normal or a sign of something else. the best pic of them i could get was the pistils from the main stem but some of my flowers are showing signs of it too.

First it thins out on tip of pistils then it changes to orange after a day or two. please need some wise advise on what this could be a havent read anything like this on the forums

Light stretching can happen with low light. You can also top them so they don't go to verticle, but bush out. They do look alright though.

Thanks hopefully the extra lighting i put will help her out and make her plump up more


what is recommended to use to support the plant without hurting her?

I have in the past loosely tied twine around heavy branches and tied the other end above the plant and it work out fine.

RE: tall and twiggy- Aerogarden recommends the lights height be adjusted to one to two inches above the plants. I think they can do that because of the cooler CFL's. That's happened with one of mine until I pruned it/topped it and lowered the lights. Has anyone had the same experience?

The only trouble I had with tying mine down was that the lower leaves didn't get enough light and they shrivled up and fell off pretty fast. I invested in an upgrade kit from A/G with a taller lamp support, 24" and a three lamps hood that put out a lot more light? The whole thing was about $110 as I recall, but it was worth it.

As far as the premature darkening of the pistils is concerned, you might want to take a couple of cuttings from the stems that aren't involved and try to clone the plant you have now for another try later. Admittedly I'm new to this too but this is what's happened to me. Hopefully we won't all have to reinvent the wheel. Hank

reason being the branches are so spaced out and long that eventually as the buds get heavier im guessing it will weigh it down dont want her to break.

i wanted to top/clone her but since ive got the autoflower ive read on these forums that is not recommended since she only has a life span of 6o days

i also thought since i got a lowryder strain that it wasnt goint to get so tall and would be ok for the aerogarden, i guess SICC was right about lowryders being weird.
good thing i had the AG hood setup already with chains from my last grow.

as for the pistils turning orange prematurely i havent notice any more other than the ones that changed, ill keep a close eye for that.

waz wondering how many fan leaves can i cut to give more light to my future budz without stressing my plant

i would wait till your buds start forming more first, then IF necessary, trim some leaves. But i personally dont think you going to need to cut anything, your going to need more lighting, so im sure you will get her plenty of light

here you go fellas tell me what you think. i wish the buds were fatter, but maybe im getting to ahead of myself.

on the last pic you can see the tip turning yellow actually most of the tips are doing it what could it be any suggestions...

they look good, cant reall see what you were talkin about, but i would get some more lights, the AG lights are good for vegg, but your going to need more for flowering

went to hardware store and bought two more 42w cfls im using those two to replace the hood on the top. so in total i have 6 total 4-23w and 2-42w. the 2-42w are on the top although it doesnt look that way in the pic. should i still use the AG hood in some way and provide more light or not since its mostly for vegging.

went to hardware store and bought two more 42w cfls im using those two to replace the hood on the top. so in total i have 6 total 4-23w and 2-42w. the 2-42w are on the top although it doesnt look that way in the pic. should i still use the AG hood in some way and provide more light or not since its mostly for vegging.

Your honestly better off leaving the hood on using those light and the ones you've purchased just place them around the hood...

I try and keep them as close as possible now but your right in the beginning all I had was the hood and it wasn't as close as I should of had it, big reason for my stretching. But now I got to watch her more often cause I've burned her a lil bit with the new lights. Oh and I have the classic ag hood with the two lights not three can't afford the upgrade from AG.

Just noticed last night that some leafs around the buds crystals are forming, excited me a lil bit. Can't wait till I smoke her my first personally grown cannabis. It's going to be so sweet and satisfying.
