Last I heard Pioneer held it with 191 db. I know for certain that before them it was MMATS Audio with 189.1. An airliner flying directly overhead is only 100 db, so .........thats really fucking loud. I have sat in 162 db before, and it feels like your heart is going to implode, you can't breathe, and your eyes shake to the point of not being able to see properly......IT"S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!

OOPS...I was off by about 10db on both of those...MMATS had it at 179.1, and Pioneer has it now at 179.7. Heres the link:

In the menu on the left click "db drag racing", then click "world records" in the menu on the left on that page.

I also posted this (who holds the world record for db right now) on the car audio forum I am a member of and this was the response I got:

Scott Owens has done 180.5 official with his pioneer truck. 13 12's and 52 amplifiers.

Alan Dante has done the same 180.5 in his volvo with ONE Digital Designs 9518Z and four stetsom 7k amps, nothing like 28,000wrms (not to mention peak) going to one funky ass driver. You should get one Ernie they start at $4,500

Actually, Owens has never broke the 80 mark in Db drag competition, only in IASCA and USAC which use different meters


Alan Dante did break the 180, at a local show,,,,didnt count as a record. He does hold the overall record at a 179.8, Using one DD Z18 and 4 Stetsom amplifiers

He didn't ask what class either...so Brad has a WR in IdBL Adv1 (or was it 2?).

But Alan is the loudest car on the planet right now.

There is a van outta fresno, california that goes to the vegas show every year... it is the most amazing system I have seen... i can't remember the system... many years ago i remember it was a fozgate system but they have reworked it with a new manufacturer now... i think the guys name is NOAH ? probably got it wrong

I have a 12 in. Alpine Type R runnin' at 450 watts in my 3000GT. That shit is so loud in there cause the inside of the call is so small. It's by far my fav. thing about the car.

For anyone interested in building their own enclosure i came across this website for sub boxes. You can enter the parameters etc of the woofer/s and this program will make the plans up for you. If the box is built exactly to spec, the sub will sound fucking awesome in that enclosure because it's tuned perfectly for that particular woofer.
