do u guys think this is a good way to make ur buds denser (yes/no)

hey u guys ever heard of some one putting black plastic bags over the buds during the last few weeks of bloom to make them harden up and get denser. i know this one guy that did that and it looks like he ended up doing the opposite. i think they came out fluffier. i think it was the stupidest idea ever but he likes it. i wanted to know what u guys think

Sounds like someone trying to cure the dam thing before cutting it down, lots of discussions regarding a dark period before harvest i would think this is similar but think your lights and strain are going to dictate how dense the buds are and nutes of course. I would say just grow the plant and flush last week and forget the tricks. Your first goal should be to just complete the first grow and instead of trying to get the buds bigger than what they are growing as just grow another plant to get more quantity. Your buddy probably cut off the last days of bud bloom. I have a female that I swore was going to be ready in 2-3 days under a 600w after upgrading the light to 1000x hps the buds are now showing new white hairs and growing like crazy again so it looks like now I have another week at this rate. I would keep the 12/12 going until its over and not cover the buds with black plastic while leaving the dam lights on. Wouldnt it have been easier to just turn the lights off?
 
we told him he was being stupid. the reason why he dident just shut the lights off is because it was an outside grow. thanks super2200 for such a quick and full answer i definitely wasent going to try it i just wanted to see what some people that had a lil more experience thought of it. the only trick im gunna try is some of this stuff called humboldts own nutrients look it up some time and tell me what u think.

Hmmm...I guess in a way I can follow the odd train of logic he used...it sounds like he was trying to initiate flower early in an outside grow, when the sun itself was giving more than 12/12.

Not sure why he'd use plastic bags, since light can get through them...but heat/humidity are likely to be trapped inside.
It also seems a bit strange to put them over the buds, as opposed to the whole plant, if simulating darkness was the intent...because the leaves would still be getting light.

I suppose using some kind of box or a trashcan that allowed for ventilation might actually work to do something like that.
Generally the idea behind outdoor grows is that you either don't care if they are found and you want big big trees and might as well use all of the veg time nature gives you...or you are going guerrilla and in that case you don't want to have to be out there 2 times a day covering and uncovering...that's just asking to get caught.


::shrug:: Either way...smack your friend and take away his smoking privileges until he quits doing silly things.
