Greetings. I am new to the medicinal marijuana experience, and this is the first forum I have joined to seek advice and direction. I wish to thank DryGrain for providing some guidance and direction on chat which was very helpful. I would also like to thank Hobbes for posting his knowledge and experience with various seed strains and their qualities, a thread which brought me to this site.
My first question revolves around the intellectual aspect of intoxication. During my young adult life (1980's in Los Angeles), I was an avid recreational user, though I found thinking challenging - not so much having a wandering mind which allowed me to create new associations from pre-existing thought patterns and information, but the debilitating affect of an inability to maintain my concentration, so that I could not convey such ruminations to others while under marijuana's sphere of influence.
Perhaps it is better to illustrate my problem: When I have a conversation with someone while under the influence, I am more prone to lose my thought mid-sentence, thereby losing grasp of the concept I am trying to convey because the predicate of the sentence subject, and the whole thought in itself becomes lost.
Secondly, reading comprehension becomes problematic because of the difficulty in maintaining concentration; and since writing is a slower communication process, creating a 25-50 page report becomes even more challenging, not to mention doing research and drafting for a 150-200 page thesis.
In a nutshell, is there a strain of marijuana that would allow me to access my higher brain functions without impairing my basic thought construction and delivery? I don't want to sound like Tommy Chong (the character, not the actor per-se) when presenting my oral defense, or during my comprehensives.
The other concern I have with medicinal use is the loss of energy. Like other collegiates and graduate students, I have sought the use of amphetamines to assist me as last minute study aids for research, reading, and writing during examination periods. Since I am attending a Graduate School of Religion, where such aids are prohibited, I am hoping to expand the institution's level of tolerance to embrace medicinal marijuana by challenging their policy with individual medicinal rights protected by the state. (I wonder how OSHA and employer insurance companies are dealing with work-place injuries and medicinal prescriptions)
In short, is there a strain, or combination of strains, which will
1. Enhance my energy level so I can stay up nights and days,
2. Enhance my reading comprehension, as well as
3. Enhance my ability to convey ideas in writing, preferably all without a ceiling?
I know it is wishful thinking, but any serious recommendation will be taken under advisement for research.
Thank you.
