Lights

A wutz up guys I jus wanted to say thx to evey1 thatz helped me with my grow so far. Well I had a question about my grow lights. I have 2 120watt grow lights that I bought and they have a slight blue tint on them but when u turn it on it looks like a daylight bulb. Ever since I started using these lights n using good nutrient my plants have been growing great. I had bought this other blue growing bulb at home depot n when it's on it's a blue light. When I was using that one they were barley growing but it's probably cuz I had one bulb on like 7seedlings. But anyway I was wondering if I would be abled to flower with the lights I'm using now cuz the light looks yellow or would I have to get a different light. In the begining of my grow I was using a 120 watt indacent bulb n it blew out. So I bought this red flood light n used it on my seedlings n they grew but mostly streched but again I was only using 1 light bulb. So would I be abled to use the red flood lights???? Quick responses would be very thankful. Thx 4 everyones help and sorry for the novel. Haha. Itz cuz I'm stoned rite now.

sorry i didn't get here sooner. not too experienced with red flood lights, i stick with mh/ hps/ floros for mothers.

if you got some stretching when originally using the red flood light in veg, you might be good using it in flower. hps bulbs throw out a red spectrum (obviously great for flowering), but when used in veg can cause major stretching.

you might be o.k. with the red flood light. how many watts is it?

your question is very confusing... a flood light will get very hot so probably a bad idea. 1 120 watt light will not be enough for flowering but two should do. I think your talking about a hps with blue spectrum added but dont understand completely what your saying.

Incandescents aren't good for growing MJ

Instead of 2- 120w floods, you'd be better off going with 6 - 40w (5500k daylight) florescent tubes... would cover enough space to grow 4 decent size plants.

Higher wattage HID bulbs are better for flowering, but you could get by with warm bulbs (2700k).

Those spots could be used as supplemental lighting, but they're very inefficient.

It's a 120 watts. I'm gonna get 2 bulbs. I'm thinking about getting 3 jus to be safe

Well when I first started my grow I didn't know u could grow plants with floresent lights and my grow room is small cuz I'm hiding it and I didn't have much money. My whole grow room probably cost me 100 dollars

Wutz that??
i agree^^^, your gonna need some better lights to flower, those might work for veg, but you will get lower yields. If I was you I'd get some cfls or at least a 150w hps for flowering. It'll pay you back in the long run. You can get them fro htgsupplies.com for like $70. Its well worth the investment. You should really check out the faqs for rollitup they have a lot of info on proper lighting. Explains it very well.

compact flourescent tubes. come in t-5, t-8,t-10?, t-12. the numbers just specify the width of the bulbs. i use t-8's for veg cuz t-5s are hella expensive. they usually come in two foot and four foot housing ballasts.

if i was u i would get 4 or 6 t-8 bulbs right on top of those girls, with daylight 5500 kelvin tubes for veg. (more blue spectrum)
switch to warm 2700kelvin bulbs for flower (more red spectrum)

you can normally get a ballast that holds 2 floro bulbs for 20-30 dollars (duckets) lol
you can buy this shit at any normal hardware store.

for my veg box i have 4 t-8 ballasts, so 8 t-8 bulbs, and i keep them about 1 inch away from the plants.

from rollitup faqs- Incandescent lights: Incandescents are the most popular type of lights in the world. They may come advertised as incandescent, tungsten, quartz, halogen, or simply standard. The important thing about incandescents is this: they suck.
There are some incandescents which are sold as 'grow lights.' They usually have a blue coating and usually come in 60W and 120W sizes. While they may seem like a good choice to new growers, they are next to useless; they produce some light at a usable spectrum, but only have about a 5% efficiency and generate more heat than usable light. Most of us have these in our homes right now. Don't use them for growing, instead opt for a Compact Fluorescent as a cheaper but more efficient alternative.

they will do fine until they mature, you dont need barely any light for vegitation... your yields will def. be very small if you dont get proper lighting, if they even survive that long. Just trying to help. and btw I know from experience. I tried to grow weed my first time with some incadescent "plant" lights and the plants started off fine and lived for over a month but eventually died and now that I'm using a hps I've had the same ammount of growth in a week that I had in that entire month...
