small rant

SO I left the door to my flower room open last night. just in the hall way from the door is one fluro tube that is on 24/7. Nothing I can do now but flowers are 4 weeks deep and I left the door open throughtout 4/5's of the dark period. These girls have been fragile in concerns to light to boot.. (I light bleached them just last week )

That is all, now I wait for the hermies to show..

Just chill, unless the plant is amazingly sensitive you should not have a problem. Esp with fluorescent lighting. We've all forgot to close our flower rooms once or twice.

it is still very possible that all will be fine , it just might take an extra couple of weeks...... the one good thing with this , is that u have done it since they started so they are used to it. Hermies come from extreme change and you have not changed anything . so just shut the door and wait it out! They can handle a nice bright moon so we will just hope the last weeks are dark and everything might just be fine.

You'll be fine. You can probably do it a couple times and still be fine. Just don't start making a habit out of it...

just a question for my personal use ......how did u get too much light ?....... it is not easy to find someone that will admit that one. Everyone here seems to be on the "too much light is impossible... " kick. I am pretty sure i have bleached mine before too, so i just wanted to know , what makes YOU think that?

I took these girls(clone) over from another caregiver and was told they are sensitive to light. During the veg time under a couple CFL’s a 400 watt MH and a secondary 100 MH for side lighting everything went like gang busters. ( i disregarded the warning)

SO when it came time for flowers I set them up with two 400’s (one MH and one HPS) at about 16” away. Again everything went good, so 4-5 days into it I lowered the lights down to about 10” with the hood making a ^ shape over the plants (less plants than light spread) in a space no bigger than two hoods, I would say 3’x2.5’. Well the flowers really started blowing up [genious right? ] but after a week or so the plants started turning yellow/white uniformly on all leaves.

After doing some math 3*2.5=7.5 800 (watts) / 7.5 = 100 watts per sq foot..
WALA! Light bleaching..

I raised the lights up a little, and started opening the door during light on cycles to get some more frsh air and things started looking a little better with any new leaves (on the flowers). and the this laps ..


To EVERYONE ELSE, thanks for the words of encouragement, I hope this wont be to much of a back slide, the one fluro isn't that great so I go the fingers crossed.

no I doubt it but my worry is having one fluro on for the entire dark period, all of the sudden (I have never made that mistake before) is.. <shrug>

I wouldn't worry overmuch. Cosidering how close you have to have a fluoro to a plant you're growing under it, one would think it couldn't have that big of an impact on your flowering buds however many feet away. Now if it was, say, a shaft of sunlight, then I might be worried...

fuck.. im glad your math is that easy ...... i have seen/read SO many light charts its crazy.... and for some reason they have not made it simple for potheads yet
once u factor in the watts, lumans, square foot of room, distance from bulb, cubic foot of room ......... <-- yea thats where i stand on the light topic .........

yeah, i know. my masters degree is in neither horticultur nor math and some of these charts and equations are wicked crazy. I go in dirt because the chem. I see in some of these hydro sets seems a little to easy to F up.

I know the basics, and I try to work within those parameters.. <shrug>

BUT I think I am going to be OK with the open door buisness they (tomatoe plants) didn't skip a beat. =)
