depends on how big they are and how big your space is.

yeah u should switch because ur mh is more of a cool white (blue)
great 4 veg where as the hps is more of a warm white like a harvest sun (red)
ideal 4 flowering
either way it sounds like ur gonna have a good crop
but i think the hps will give u a better yeild imho
good luck

IMO, yea you should switch to HPS for flowering sounds like you will need more than 600 watts for that many plants though. I just got a new digital 600 watt and like it a lot, get a good hood also.

yeah i need to get a descent hood. ive spent about 1600 euro already on this grow and things are getting tight. the 16 plants are in a 1 metre squred tray and their all in 11 litre pots. (fits perfect! lol) i wont flower for another 2 weeks so should i stick with the 400mh untill i flower?

it depends on your space. 600w systems seem to have issues, but I'm sure a lot of people have great success with them. I have a friend who uses a 600w system, and it gives him troubles. I haven't had any issues with my two 400w systems. 600w systems are also relatively new. It use to jump from 400 to 1000. I think they're just now getting the kinks out of the 600w systems.

From everything I've read, here and elsewhere, the MH is best for veg... so, for the next two weeks, or however long you decide to veg, keep it with that... then hop over to the hps.

A note on the poll, I didn't know how to answer. You can't ask an either or in the question of a poll and then have yes or no options! lol

Q. Should I do A or B?
A. Yes

Very helpful! lol :)

Ballasts going out, bulbs lasting a few weeks, stuff like that. Like I said before, I'm sure a lot of people have success with them. I just happen to know somebody who knows what he's doing, and seems to have issues with his 600w system from HTG. Dude isn't an idiot, and he's been growing for at least 20 years. He picked up the system because he liked the size and though it would be great for one of his veg rooms.

You wont hurt a thing using both lights. In fact I like using the mix spectrum. It seems to help my plants grow at a better rate and get more bushy. That's what I have experienced anyway..:bigjoint:

definately, using mh and hps and the same time is going to have better results than just 1 of them,i am interested in doing this for my next grow

plants seem to be so so much healthier outside, since they get all the spectrum all the time, including UV

and u say youve got a digital ballast?my Lumatek 600 runs both MH and HPS,id check yours
