Hi I've seen some homemade hydroponics and i've got a few air pumps wasn't going to do hydro though but i was wondering if anyone's done airpump through soil and was wondering if it helps? if it helps yeild height potentcy ect.? if you know or have experimented with this already or know a post on here already explaining it could you send it to me. any feedback is good. I haven't put the pump in yet i want to know if pumping extra oxygen is the soil is bad or also is this called aeroponics?

Thats retarded dude!

what makes it retarded? I figured soil may not get enough oxygen on the bottom of the roots so mix a bit of hydro with soil and add the air pump but obviously not leaving it on for too long don't want to kill it with to much O and CO2 has oxygen obviously and that helps the plant.

oh well that's not what i was talking about i meant i've seen homemade hydroponics with a bubble stone and airpump i was wondering if i added oxygen if it'd help the plants i wasn't going to flood it or anything i don't have room to flood lol it's a closet plant

but thanks for the feedback and sorry for the confusion

ive done it , pumping air into the container. didnt notice much difference except that i had to water more often.roots like air so i cant see how it would hurt.your other responder probably isnt even 30 yrs old much less growing that long.

this is why you let your soil dry out compleatly so oxegen Will get to the roots. I don't see where it would hurt but just watch your moisture in the soil. keep us posted

and 3 other random bad seeds (should be good genetics but might be stressy genetics hope not)

If i add the air pump and that makes it dry up faster half is probably evaporating and the plants getting the rest if you add the pump and have to continually water it would that kill them from over watering?

If its so good why dont anyone else do this?Im not going to argue about something as stupid as this.Get some grows under your belt and then you wont be asking these stupid questions......

I'm considering adding this to my signature, but I'm not sure if it's stupider than the dandelion thing. Hard to say really.

You want to "pump" air into your soil? hahaa...you mean blow on it a little in one spot?

If you want to use your air pump you should use it in your Water/Nutrient Solution container and water with the water from it. It will oxygenate the water giving more oxygen to the roots.

I don't know how beneficial it would be (couldn't hurt), but I'm sure they would love the extra oxygen.

Put an air pump in the soil solution, I love this site sometimes...you guys crack me up.

yeah experimenting (safely) doesn't hurt lol and that's a great idea oxygen in the water giving more oxygen thanx laserbrn

i can see 1 draw back to pumping air into soil it will speed up evapation, your soil will dry out faster. that is my 2 cents on the subject.

yeah that's what 2much said but laserbrn made a great point put the air pump in the water with nutrients and it will help pump some oxygen in the mixture to help the roots
