small gow help

I have been growing with CFLs I get dank weed but just not the weight I would like. My grow cabinet is 12in deep 22in wide and 40 inches tall. So I was looking to upgrade to a small HPS system and I found this http://www.growlightsupply.com/150-watt-hps-small-grow-light-p-112.html I was just wondering if you guys thought it would be worth the money. I just want to grow 2-3 plants. It says it puts out 16000 lumens its small and I am hoping it doesn’t put too much heat out. I hope one of you guys can help me make up my mind.

You can do wat I did if ur up to the risk you can look at those industrial buildings and look for bright orange lights usually used in the parking lot, scale the building and rip them off with gloves on , throw them in the trunk and speed off lmao. I got two 150's , one 100 and two 70 watt hps lights this way. Then u gotta go to home depot and get an extension for a cut wire ( it will have a white wire, a black one and a green one) green is ground. The wires coming from the light you jacked should be white, black and bare copper. Connect the bare copper to the green and white to white black to black. Plug it in and it will be dim at first but become gradually brighter over 5 mins or so. Enjoy ur free hps lights

that's better than 8k lumens per sq. ft. - that is plenty, some strains might find a bit too much

yes you should go with the hps over the cfl's.
it is a much better quality and spectrum of light that the hps gives off.
Also make sure that you have sufficient Ventilation

Depends on CFM of fan, venting, etc

Those 150 Watt Sun Systems do not give that much heat. you'll be fine.

You gotta be fucking kidding me! If you all havn't figured it out yet, this guy BlackUp, is a complete MORON!! Check out this thread he started a few days back. He was asking if it would "Up his Profits" if he sprayed vanilla extract on buds and sell it to his friends. WTF?! And to suggest to another RIU user to rip some light's off a building? WTF?! Sorry, got distracted by some idiot. Looking at the size of your grow space, you may want to get a light with a remote ballast and an air-cooled hood. Then the ballast wont be inside there heating up your grow box and if you went air cooled you may be able to do a 250 watt hps. I don't know though? In that small of a space heat is going to be an ongoing issue. I would definately at least go with an aircooled remote ballast 250w. It will pay itself back quick, twice as much light as the 150w and air-cooling and remote ballast will reduce heat drastically. Good Luck and I hope to see some results in a few months Dude!

Um I just noticed the height of your grow box is going to be a problem. After you factor in the height of a light and the flower pots you are only left with 2 foot to grow. Even less than that because you cant have the hps too close to the plants or you will burn them. So you will most likely need a taller box if your going HPS. Can you build a bigger one possibly? I don't know your situation or what kind of box it is. If I were to do a box for three plants it would be 3'x3'x6' with a Air cooled 400w or 600w HPS and remote ballast. Maybe do up some 5 gallon aero buckets as well! Good Luck!!
