i am having issues with cloning. ive tried for the last month to try to clone my babies and they wont root.
i have them under a heatin pad for warmth and nothin is happening.
this is very fuckin frustrating. but when i had bagseed they clones like crazy. what gives?
i have then in jiffy peat pellets with rooting powder and Olivia's cloning gel. none seem to work.

any suggestion on what to do to get them to root form? plus rep for ur help.

thanks RIU members:leaf:

Personally I have had ZERO luck with the peat pellets and almost 100% success with rockwool. Also sometimes just 2-3 weeks in a glass of water will make just about any cutting root.

I take clones of clones and they now take 2 weeks instead of 5-7 days. Also I have bad luck if it is a main top with a hollow core...they just die...but would probably root in a glass of water in 3 weeks;-)

It could also be that the heating pad is a little too warm. I usually add some space between it and the tray as it runs pretty hot.

Good luck

Make a gap between the tray of clones and the heating pad cuz those pads get hot and dry out the pellets quite a bit, and make sure the pellets aren't too wet, I dip the clones in the rooting powder, then put the clones in the pellets and squeeze the excess water out so that the pellets are fairly damp not wet

Sup man, My clones always root out in exactly 1 weeks time every time. Keep them moist all the time, try using rock wool cubes aswell. are you using a propagation dome?

Ok I think your problem may be u r keeping them too moist. If your gonna root in soil it must not be real wet just damp or u can get rot. When I use rockwool i always squeeze out excess water so it can get sum air.

cut your stem diagonally and srape the stem about a half inch up from the bottom, use 1.5 inch starter cubes of rock wool or coaco, i like schultz take root best its a powder not a gel and sticks really well to the scraped stems, remeber to do the cutting and the scrapping under water to avoid air bubbles. and always use a very dilute nute mix or a pourpse made starter soulution. good luck man,l should see roots in 3-5 days with that method there, spray them down with the starter soulution every day or so when they need it and ditch the root mat, dries them out and kills them. just set them close to a couple t5 flours or a few daylight cfls. i get about a 95 % succes rate.

Fuck the lil brown hockey pucks.I will MAN SLAP the next person that recommends those for cloning. You need to keep everything moist when cloning & those crappy jiffy hockey pucks get moldy.

2 words.. ROCK WOOL!

I use this tray http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7097#

I use the clear adjustable vent lid that fits on that tray (couldnt find a pic on the net)

I use these 1 1/2" Groden rockwool cubes http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/2198/rockwool-mini-blocks/

I use a heating mat

I have 100% success if I keep on it.

My way cost me $14.00 to make 78 clones (thats a full tray) At the end of this month I will have 16 full trays. This method works great. Ohh yeah.. I use that stinky ass "super thrive" to promote root groth, but not a must. It helps tho.

Ohh yeah.. I ONLY use the heating mat because its cooler right now. When it got hot, I killed all my clones in 12 hrs with the mat.. But thats cuz it got really hot.

As long as its 70 or lower.. I would HIGHLY recomend using it.

Its just a plastic tray with a grooved bottom and clear plastic dome, Ive got the same thing. You can also go to the store and buy a large premaid cake and use that plastic tray and dome as a propogation dome also heee. But shoot cakes are like 8 bucks so u dont save a whole lot but if u r straped for money every penny counts I guess.

Yes after it roots, just plant RW cube in whatever medium you choose. I remove the white plastic wrapper if it has one.

The pre-made holes are a little big for my cuttings...I either use the bottom side and make my own hole or sacrifice a cube to peel a piece of RW off to stuff in holes. If you get the little cubes and you are cheap...a half cube works good too;-) I have some plugs now that are for the cell tray...I do not like them as much but they are cheap.
